(53,410 posts)They gave their best tantrum. They screeched and screamed and shouted and hollered and waved their arms around and banged on the table and turned red in their rage filled spittle spewing rants. All for naught.
They are stunned. STUNNED!
Sad.

(33,343 posts)That phrase, "rage filled spittle spewing rants", is just begging to be the caption of a collage of still photos from the inquiry hearings.

(53,410 posts)youre quite welcomed to use it.
I think a political animated cartoon would be good too. The visual of the spittle spattering everything in the vicinity like water coming off a wet dog wringing itself is compelling.

(8,820 posts)Trump, The Republican Senators, and the entire Republican Party.
In the back of their minds, they so desperately need to gain acceptance for their efforts, because they know the second this whole s***storm hits the Republican Senate it will be Dead On Arrival. period.
All over but the Senate's check-mate award of turning our beloved Democracy into a true Tyrannical Fascist Government......

(10,749 posts)Since it's from The Rude Pundit, sensible may not be the best word, but he is 100% right.
Democrats have to go full court press, balls to the wall on messaging around removing Trump from office. They can't rely on Americans actually understanding any of this. Ads, town halls, fuckin' billboards. All of it. Treat it like a campaign.
The Rude Pundit (@rudepundit) December 13, 2019
If Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomberg want to do some good, take a few hundred million and create campaigns to get this out to Republicans wherever they are. In simple, direct language. No mocking (leave that to the Rude Pundit and others). Full page ads in republican area newspapers and magazines along with the nationals. Hell, expand this internationally so that overseas voters are encouraged to contact their legislators. Billboards, advertising, banner ads, websites, social media. Start using FB advertising the way Russians and Republicans use FB advertising. Non-stop. Then every Democrat needs to hold town halls in areas where they have republican constituents. (Can a legislator hold a town hall in a district that is not their own?) And this needs to be done now. As in beginning this weekend and continuing as long as it takes.
One more thing. Non-stop fact checking and immediate responses in all social media to trump's lies. As fast as he can tweet, rebuttals and fact-checking go up and go viral. How's this? Daily ads in the NYT and the other majors rebutting every single one of trump's lies from the day before. Ad in the same place in every paper. If possible, get the same ads in RW papers.
This is where billionaires can do good right now.
Also, Bezos should buy Fox News, but that might take a little while longer.

(18,837 posts)It will be...some say already is...the most vile presidential campaign of our lifetime. Time to consider Sean Connery asking Kevin Costner, in "The Untouchables," how badly he wants to win. The Trump campaign will roll out every piece of dirt they can find, and will make up most of it. 2020 won't be a year to take the high ground. Not suggesting that Democrats "become" Trump at all, but there are ways to counteract what he'll put out, and that will take aggression and persistence.
