(2,689 posts)LOL. Whiney little snowflakes, entitled white cry-babies, pathetic enablers of treason and corruption, deniers of climate change, evolution, and the constitution of the United States.
Sadly, there are millions of people who just love what they do, how they do it, and, of course, their racism. Even more sadly, there are millions more who don't love them but will vote for them anyway -- or just not vote at all.
I felt a little skeptical of the chances to unseat Trump in the upcoming election. But after seeing Boris Johnson run the table in the U.K., I'm falling out of skepticism and into despair. If the Brits can be so massively stupid, what is to prevent Americans from following suit?

(2,990 posts)Seriously. I get that she's conservative, but at this point, one cannot be a Republican while simultaneously being both conservative and reasonable.

(26,251 posts)Ana, and other true conservatives are the GOP. My dad was an old school, 'Eisenhower' Republican. He would be outraged at what's happening, right now.
The mendacious misanthropes, like McConnell, Cruz, Jordan, Gaetz, etc, are the deviation from the party. But, until more actual Republicans start speaking out, they put themselves of being in the position to be painted with the same brush.
IMHO, of course.

(10,721 posts)They've gotten progressively nuttier in a desperate attempt to ward off social progress and secularization.
The Never Trumpers helped lay the groundwork for Trump. They just won't admit it.

"Which is ironic when you think about it, because it's almost nothing but fools and old women."

(9,760 posts)Beyond The Apprentice, Trump's campaign used the same familiar reality TV tropes that we've been fed for the past 20 years. Once again, he used catchphrases: "Make America Great Again," "Build the Wall, "We Don't Have a Country." He exploited racial sensitivities to his advantage, much like a TV producer. From The Real World on, reality TV has cast people as archetypes: the Virgin, the Racist, the Angry Black Person. They're edited to type and encouraged to fight with one another. Trump constructed similar narratives, presenting his opponents as villains by calling them namesCrooked Hillary, Lying Tedand insulting them so blatantly that they weren't sure how to react.
We should learn from this election. It's imperative that we look at who and what we're elevating in the form of harmless entertainment. Even when television seems silly and trite, the images and messages it sends to viewers are influential. We need to question whether we want the entertainment we put on TV to become, over time, mirrors of our society as a whole. I, for one, don't want to live in a nation of Real Housewives.

(10,885 posts)in New England, it was astonishing to me to learn that the rest of the US wasn't really familiar or even aware of Chump until The Apprentice reared its ugly head. The citizens of NY and we in the surrounding areas have, unfortunately, grown up with the Trump nonsense since he first came on the scene 50 or so years ago, so we were well aware of the narcissism, graft and illegalities that followed him. We were already very tired of the Trump name by the time he rode the Down escalator.
"Sorry" to the rest of the nation. Had we known this dark force was something previously unknown to the world, we would have made a greater effort to spread the word about the Trump way of grifting through all that he attempts. As Rick Wilson says "Everything Trump Touches Dies". So true, so true.
He and his crime family will never be unknowns again.
I love Ana.

Still, as one DUer said about Tweety, when Tweety is on our side there's nobody better, and the same goes for her. Re: Ana, when SHITLER is gone, what will her Repuke-ism be like. She really sounds more like us Dems for now, so she should come over red rover red rover!1
