Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) flaunts his tragically limited knowledge of how impeachment works.

“Once articles of impeachment arrive in the Senate, Republicans will take control of the impeachment process for the first time. A growing number, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, want a quick trial without witnesses, which they view as the easiest path to acquittal,” The Journal explained.

“Mr. Trump has publicly signaled his openness to a short trial, and White House aides are pitching him on the idea that a quick acquittal would be its own form of vindication. Privately, though, he has said he wants not just a quick process, but also the ability to call a list of witnesses. It isn’t clear how Mr. McConnell could deliver both of those things,” the newspaper explained.

The newspaper interviewed Sen. David Perdue (R-GA), who frequently speaks with the president.

Perdue said Trump “wants his day in court. He feels like he has not been able to have any defense over in the House. He has not. He’s been denied the No. 1 right all of us have, which is to face his accuser and have our defense represented.”

Why didn't Trump waddle up Capitol Hill and testify at all those hearings the Democrats held? Why didn't he let his staff people testify under oath? Trump didn't have a defense because he refused to participate in the proceedings. The little boy has been pouting for weeks that he can't have his cake and eat it, too.

Anonymity for very good reasons in cases like this. There is NO right to “face one’s accuser” in this instance.

His accusers are the House committees. The witnesses made the cover of Time. Trump refused to participate.

The traitor tot has no one to blame but himself.

The GOP know full well why that anonymity must be preserved. They're just stirring up their mob and giving them things to scream about.

Makes me mad every time one of those disingenuous assholes screeches about the whistleblower.

During the Clinton impeachment proceedings, an entire day was devoted to hearing from Clinton's lawyer and several panels of witnesses defending Clinton.

Trump was offered the opportunity to participate and refused to do so, labelling (through his attorney) the proceedings a sham. So its a bit strange for Perdue to complain that Trump has been "denied" the right to have his defense represented. Trump denied himself that opportunity.

This guy has done NOTHING for Georgia that I can point to as benefiting the average Jane or Joe.

Really, really hoping the Democratic candidates running to the unseat this guy can find their stride and send this dude back to the golf course.
