The big picture: Written on White House letterhead, the letter memorializes Trump's defense on the eve of his expected impeachment. The House is set to approve articles of impeachment on Wednesday, sending them to the Senate for what is likely to be a speedy trial that ends with Trump's acquittal.
What he's saying: Trump rehashed his usual arguments against impeachment, including that Democrats are seeking revenge over their 2016 election loss and that his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was "perfect."
"There is nothing I would rather do than stop referring to your party as the Do-Nothing Democrats. Unfortunately, I don't know that you will ever give me a chance to do so," Trump wrote.
"You are the ones interfering in America's elections. You are the ones subverting America's Democracy. You are the ones Obstructing Justice. You are the ones bringing pain and suffering to our Republic for your own selfish, personal, political and partisan gain," he added.

The fact that he used the word "jurisprudence" in a sentence proves conclusively that someone else wrote it. That word is NOT in his vocabulary.

(15,331 posts)for this letter.
Probably having some good chortles while saying "Let's see what he spews if I suggest that Nancy says you abused your power via a perfect call..."
Keep the tape running while he spews. Extract some key phrases and add them to the memo.
At the end, run it by the big boy for his "sssignature". He'll love it since it has a few of his nonsense rantings embedded.
Hermit-The-Prog
(33,418 posts)Whatever committee of assholes actually wrote the letter, under Twitler's supervision, knows to usurp the main points made against him so that every mention of, for example, "abuse of power", can incite those on his side. It's the Bart Simpson, "I'm rubber, you're glue!" defense.
There will be GOPers screeching, "But what about ( Pelosi's | Democrats' ) abuse of power!"

They were strip searched and examined for signs on their bodies - like a mole, or a burn mark. Most were picked up on the flimsiest of charges, and many of those who were hanged were convicted on spectral evidence.

(6,139 posts)everything he says is for the base only. He is laser focused on his base in PA, WI and MI. To us it looks stupid, the base loves it. I hope whoever wins the nomination, would spend 90% of their time in PA, WI, MI, FL and AZ. One short visit to solidly blue states will be more than enough. This was a big flaw in Clintons campaign, in order to overcome voter suppression, hacking, fake news, fbi, etc. focus should have been on those states, traveling across WI, for a week at a time. Speaking everywhere and laser tailor the message to that specific community, never generic copy/paste statements.

I've worked with people who are mentally unbalanced, and this is the kind of over-the-top shit they would email when they felt they were being wronged (but were only being told that they are wrong about something, which they objectively were).
Normal people don't write shit like this.
And it's absolutely unpresidential. To think that this letter is now a permanent record of something an actual president of the US actually said. Fucking Embarrasing.
