The Democrats are giving the Republicans the chance to save their Party and maybe, their country.

In their hearts, they know it to be true. They knew from the beginning that he was bad news.

But, every time he got away with his lies and exaggerations, they surrendered just a little more. Until they were totally committed.

They knew from the time General Flynn lied to the FBI about Russia. They knew when he fired James Comey. They knew when their own Party named Robert Mueller as the Special Counsel. They had seen it all, just like everyone else. They saw all the transgressions.

However, they chose to ignore them.

This is their last chance. They can save their Party for the Conservatives, or they can try to keep the Trump Party? The added bonus is that they might save our country, also?

If they choose to now forget everything they have been shown, it is to the detriment of us all. They cannot escape the complicity.

not to give up extreme, corrupt power for something as uncertain and unprofitable as democracy.

...the reality that the Republican Party was rotten to the core long, long before Trump, which is why the rise of Trump was even possible. This reality is what Never Trumpers refuse to admit. And to them I say this:

Blood On Their Hands

Never Trumpers may like you to consume

The notion that Trump happened in a vacuum

But the groundwork had been laid going back to Nixon

The Southern Strategy and a racist depiction

Then came the Powell Memo and Moral Majority

Code words, a drug war, cultural uniformity

Welfare queens and the Willie Horton ad

Reagan, Bush and the anti-government fad

With Dubya, you see, people wanted to have a beer

SCOTUS gave anti-intellectualism the all clear

A terrorist attack then opened the door

To torture, spying and endless war

The nerve to elect and re-elect a Black man

They lost their shit when his suit was tan

He must not be Christian or an American

We’ll be damned if he’s followed by a woman

And poof there was Trump, or so we’re told

Revisionist history is what we’re sold

Their party has long been ethically void

But prior to Trump they were happily employed

They continue to worship at the altar of Saint Ronnie

While making no connection to the rise of Saint Donnie

Their denial is strong, but conscience commands

They should acknowledge the blood on their hands

I think the only reason that CNN and MSNBC come off as being pro Democratic, is simply because its impossible these days to defend anything Trump says or does, and if the Republican party fully supports him, to the point of lying and acting like baffoons, they have no choice.

But as soon as Trump finally leaves, and there is a "moderate" like a Bush or a Romney running. Even if they run another Trump lover like Pence, or Cruz, the MSM will fawn all over them. They will be so relieved to be able to go back to the false equivalency MO in order to keep their access, and get invited to the Washington cocktail party list.

The MSM will make sure that everything is smoothed over. There even could be elements in the Democratic party that also is keen to "move forward", in order to get back to the status quo. May even with the best intentions, in not wanting to create an even further division in both Washington and the country. And there are also corpoate executives in the MSM giants that also do not want market turmoil or uncertainty that is exacerbated by a contentious Washington.

Question is, what form that catharsis will take. It won't go away. Retirements are a beginning. But if these intellectual cretins that call themselves GOP U.S. Representatives and Senators expect to dismiss their support of Trump in a sentence or two next election and the one after and the one after that, and expect all will be healed for them, they are stone cold nuts.

After today's vote, it's set in stone forever!

In their votes in support of tRump, a man, over the rule of law and against the U.S. Constitution, they will hand all future generations of democrats that hammer. Any time from this day forward, when a rePutican suggests upholding the Constitution, we law abiding Americans can immediately and repeatedly beat them over the head with their own actions. This is the day when rePuticans drew a line in the sand and turned their backs on the Constitution, voting in support of a man over that of our republic.

Remember that.

Destroy them with their own words, their own actions. They chose their path and we gave them every out possible to get on the right side of history. Until they stand up with democrats in support of our republic, they have no ground to stand on from this day forward.

Out of fucks to give.
