Have been clinging to the coffee mug for dear life as the republicans continue with their charades and delays this morning.

Gotta feed the critters then I'll prolly find myself compelled to comment. I just can't help it at a point. Am very pleased I was able to make arrangements to have free time today and tomorrow, phew.

Is good to see you in here

You and one of my cousins. She was texting early this morning jumping up and down.

It's gonna be a long long day because it will be the full blown 3-ring circus from the GOP side plus CSPAN indicated that they plan to introduce all kinds of delaying motions - mostly motions to adjourn - all day long (meaning recorded votes for each time they do this).

Good to see you around too!!

Looking for especially good or foul moments. Was surprised by the amount of rehash that went on in the Rules Cmte yesterday.

Am gonna have to pace myself, somehow, lol.

(on the gross end of things has been cole (R-OK) saying they are violently opposed to the process. Abhorrent language choice, that's gonna make me break out a copy of the Constitution. I really hope there isn't more of that type speech, and I'm unsure how to make comment on it. Am thinking.)

He and Burgess are some of the original crazies who eventually became the "elder" teabaggers of the GOP but they are not hyperactive like some of the others that we have seen prominently out there (including Collins - who even got a dig from Raskin yesterday about how fast he talks ).

At that time, I tracked Dem members more closely than the republicans. I mean, there’s plenty of characters on the right I’ve known for years. Somehow, the portly burgess slipped by my awareness. Might be because I thought they’d cause damage to the nation, but really didn’t foresee how far they would go to undermine our institutions and Constitution.

I saw the shenanigans coming from the naming of the patriot act, but that it snowballed to the tea party, and now this? I just wish I’d seen it coming, and did more to pushback than I did (which I was fairly engaged, really).

Is astoundingly awful what the republicans are doing.

She would call and tell me to "Turn on CSPAN!".

When we first got cable in our area in Philly in 1989 and my mom got signed up, the first channel she put on was CNN (she was a Ted Turner follower) and the 2nd channel she turned on was CSPAN (and she taped a lot of panels and hearings and events from there too).

Was reading of his speech like an auctioneer selling off a lot of painted mules.

Just gotta get through the dirty work, and fast.

Was conaway (R-TX).

Eta: Painted mules were mules that were dyed to look healthier than they were. It was a scam during the Great Depression, and a phrase that’s still artful in older circles here in TX. I think it speaks to the truth of what the republicans are trying to do with their angles. Added this to avoid unintended offense.

& great to hear Rep Lieu is well enough to attend. I bet nothing could keep him away. I've been so tense as of late over this whole impeachment thing going on so have been avoiding watching the news or MSNBC. I can only read about it once in a while. Otherwise it consumes my mind constantly.

The danger is yet to come when it's time for the crazies like GYMSUIT JORDAN who was jammed onto that Committee.

I know this is a long haul today and needed to be in and out so could juggle a huge thread. They are all basically retiterating remarks they made in the hearings.

That map makes it look like the vast majority of the country is GOP, but a lot of those red counties are just about vacant. Adjust for population and you get something like this:
