One of Trump's biggest regrets on his impeachment day?

It is that he adopted a dark vision and sought to divide America along partisan and cultural lines.

Of course, when he took over the White House, he had a good majority of Republicans in each branch of Congress. He could afford to tell people how terrible the "Do Nothing" Democrats were. He didn't need them.

But today, he might be in better shape politically if he had not shoveled shit on everyone that did not bend the knee. He could use a dozen or so Democrats at this time.

But, it's too late.

He used up his hateful, divisive language in the misguided belief that he would be protected in all instances by his base and those that are dependent on the base to get re-elected. He used it like a bludgeon on Republicans to keep them in line.

If only, he had not been so divisive. If he had only recognized that he is supposed to be president for all the people, not just his cultish supporters, he may have tried to create some sort of coalition? But, I guess that did not fit into his vision?

3. I don't believe he doesn't think he did anything wrong

He knows he did - he pushed many things to the limit to see if he would get pushback. If he has any regret it is that he doesn't have plausible deniability.

I would hope that the enabling, complicit Republicans have lots of regrets and lots of time to think about it after they lose.

he just doesn't think they were wrong, in the sense of things that he shouldn't be allowed to get away with. He thinks the law doesn't apply to him and that everything he does is OK just because it was he that did it. The GOPers in Congress might have some regrets, though, especially once they've been 86'd out of office for their support of and complicity with him.

... that is why artfully tries to get away with it by concealing his each and every move.....

..... he thinks he is just too slick, intelligent, and smart to ever get caught.

7. In my opinion, not especially good at concealment either

remember that at one time part of the Ukraine defense was, "yeah I did it .. so what?" And what person, intent on concealment, would STILL have Guliani rushing shredding defenses like a deranged pyromaniac? It's been said numerous times by multiple sources .. "imagine if the position was inhabited by a truly intelligent individual, with similar criminal intent and impulses?"

are pretty scary (and intelligent) .. and of course they don't occupy the oval office, but stand way too close to it from my point of view. At core, the whole batsh*t theory of the unitary executive needs to be exposed (perhaps using Donald Trump as exhibit A?) and thoroughly rooted out and destroyed. And with the right quickly losing ground on demographics and the popular vote .. the Republican party becomes more at home with such authoritarian extremes every day. So, yes .. our next right wing president could be both much more authoritarian .. and much more intelligent, clever and deceitful.

The House of Representatives is doing the country a great service in this impeachment .. and Dick Cheney was a dangerous ideologue that infected far too much of our political system with his extremist views.
