"Remember the dishwasher? You'd press it, boom! Thered be like an explosion. Five minutes later you open it up, the steam pours out, he said.
"Now you press it 12 times. Women tell me ..." the president said. "You know, they give you four drops of water."
Though he didn't offer any specifics, Trump appeared to say that his administration had adopted new regulations for the appliances.

(24,801 posts)Modern dishwashers are tremendously efficient, eco-friendly and reliable.
Yes, they use less water because they have sensors that regulate water usage.
Such a fucking idiot.

(6,212 posts)It is efficient, very quiet and does a great job. Plus I only press it once. He is a raving idiot who is now obsessed with water.

(6,212 posts)old toilets you only flushed once and old dishwashers exploded with steam and hot water in ten minutes. Now we supposedly flush and press incessantly. It is kind of comical.

(34,890 posts)The new one is far superior to the old one in every way. I press two buttons: One to set the cycle, one to start. Beats the old one, which was loud, and required turning a dial and flipping a latch that locked it closed. I doubt that rotten nutjob ever operated a dishwasher in his entire miserable life.

(6,250 posts)I seldom use it...just once a month or so to keep it from rusting out.
First of all there are just 2 of us, so there are not enough items to load the dishwasher.
And it uses too much water & electricity. Not good for the environment.
It takes me only 15 minutes every night to clean the dishes for the day.
I save a ton of water & use ZERO electricity.

(28,493 posts)Plus, the heat dry pretty much sterilizes the dishes, which will tend to reduce the spread of things like colds and flu.
My sister refused to use the dishwasher, and her three kids got lots of colds and one kept on getting scarlet fever. I always used it and my two kids were almost never sick. Yeah, anecdotal I know, but the part about the heat cycle isn't.
Modern dishwashers are remarkably efficient. I live alone and about a year ago replaced a dishwasher that had stopped working ten years earlier. Oh, my. The dishes are much, much cleaner. Apparently I really am a bad and inefficient washer of dishes.

(3,549 posts)It's been a while since I watched them, but relatively full dishwashers win over hand washing.

(6,250 posts)My wife hates doing dishes so she was using the dishwasher.
She had to "prewash" the dishes before loading the dishwasher.
Because otherwise some dishes/pots did not come out clean.
Since I love doing dishes manually, I began doing the dishes manually.
I use Dawn liquid which is very good. Need only 3 or 4 drops to do day's dishes.
Water bills have dropped!
And electric bills have dropped!
Best of all, every dish & pot & pan comes out spotlessly clean.
PoindexterOglethorpe
(28,493 posts)naturally more water is used than either handwashing or machine washing alone.
Depending on the age of your dishwasher and the cycle you select, often pots and pans will not get fully clean in a dishwasher.
I always just select the normal load, although there' a sensor choice as well as heavy.
I will repeat, because this actually matters, even when I'm trying conscientiously to do a good job of hand washing, I am apparently not very good at it. After I got this dishwasher about a year ago, I ran all of my "clean" in the cupboard dishes through it and was genuinely astonished at how clean they were. Vastly cleaner than they'd been in quite a while.
Again, my failure at hand washing.

(34,216 posts)Maybe we should talk about the price of those things!!! The cheaper ones are from $3,000-7,000. The larger ones are much more expensive.
"Get your dishes done in 5 minutes, but it will cost you $3,000!".
Who cares if dishes take a long time in some machine???? Close the door and forget about it.

I've complained myself about some of the hand washing sinks you run into in public bathrooms, but that's more the corporations being tight than any regulations. I don't think anyone forces them to install some of those toilet paper dispensers that make you fight to get more than one square, but there they are.

(5,901 posts)Uses just about 2.5 gallons of water per cycle (it adjusts the pressure for the various cycles, not the amount of water used). The Energy Efficiency tag on it stated that it would use about $11 per year in electricity. If the house is totally quiet I can tell that it's running, but if I am playing anything on the radio or have a video going you can't tell - it's so quiet!
I can't hand-wash a pot with the amount of water this uses!
It's one of the Fisher & Paykel Dish Drawer models from New Zealand that we bought about 7 years ago when we had the house remodeled. It was pricey, but we decided to splurge a little on the dishwasher and the range hood (I *hate* loud fans), and have never regretted the decisions. I figure that it has probably paid for itself a couple of times over just in water and power savings.
Can you imagine ANY woman meeting any US President (or even tRump) and using that opportunity to complain about the dishwasher or toilet?

Epic mythology example Trumps role as the nation's anti-historian in chief.
Troll in chief - who lets industry dictate policies based on his manipulable ignorance - strikes again.
The scary thing is how many of these changes are made that we don't know about (and can't try to act on) for every single one that he decides to riff about in his rambling rallies?
Our country, and the world, will be paying for this era for decades.

(82,849 posts)You know, where George Foreman talks about all the people who approach him with questions about patenting their ideas or inventions? Yeah, first person I'd go to for patent help would be George Foreman (no knock on Foreman, but he's a retired boxer not a patent attorney). Just like the first person I'd go to talk about modern appliances would be Donald Fucking Trump (and that is a knock on Trump, because he's a goddam idiot).

(24,678 posts)... they don't speak English. So when Trump yells at them (because he yells at everyone), they respond,
"que?"
"What do you mean, 'it's 'kay'? It's not okay at all! No English? Then I'll yell louder and slower, that should help!"
"que?"
"Cake? No you idiots, I want pie! With two scoops of ice cream!"
