McConnell tells Fox News he'll "look at the evidence and "decide if he wants to call witnesses"

MSNBC showed the clip, so no link. Given the fact that he wants this in and out like shit through a goose and has already declared that he's not "impartial," I think we all know what decision Mitch will make when he "looks at the evidence."

that's 2 out of 4. He could even lose another one, and Pence would cast a vote to break a tie.

I can't think of another Republic Senator with any ethics.

I read this the same way. He misread the mood of the country - and maybe his own caucus - and is now trying to look leaderly.

Now he has to backpedal like a mother-fucker and pretend that he won't be lying his ass off when he swears an oath to "do impartial justice".
Sorry, Yertle. The cat's already out of the bag.

In this case, I think his initial outrageous statement about coordinating with the president was put out there to give him an out when the shit gets real, i.e. if/when recusing himself is strategically better personally than continuing to take the splash back.

as one of the conditions before Pelosi delivers the articles of impeachment, based on their public comments. In view of their comments they cannot honestly or objectively take the oath required to serve as jurors in the Senate trial. Also, the Senators who signed on to Trump's resolution to support him and split Trump fund raising money should likewise be recused and excused from the trial.

It is not possible to have a fair trial with jurors who have already exhibited such partiality.

I don't know - has he given any indication that he intends to settle this quickly in the President's favor? I just can't figure it out.

I guess ignoring all that legislation the House has sent over to the Senate takes up more of Mitch's time than I would have thought.
