An American Abroad.

Watching the national news this lunchtime and they were doing a piece on Boxing Day Sales, over consumption and the environment. They were interviewing the general public and purely by chance landed on an American (having had several sensible comments from a few Brits).

This is what he had to say…

‘’Obviously, I think about the environment, ah, yeah, but consumerism keeps capitalism going and unlike the socialists over here in Europe I am a capitalist – I am all about consumerism’’

The layers of stupidity and ignorance are many… good grief.
Bet he votes for Trump. Heh.

Barely a grasp on basic facts and often misses them altogether, especially when there is any decision making involved and the miss enriches himself.

That's not an American abroad. That's a broad American.

As I live, I don't want to make others rich, and especially not the rich richer. That exacerbates my predicament. So I focus on making me rich, which is to say, my bottom line. I'm an American bottom-feeder.

Hubby said we should wear maple leaf pins if we go back to England.
We've always apologized for rethug administrations in our Christmas cards to friends there (especially for the last 3 yrs) - happy to say we don't know any folks supporting Boris.

Because when she says she’s American she gets harassed because of mf45. Hubby and I say we are from San Francisco when we go to Europe now as code.

Canadians treat it like Americans treat Black Friday.

Me? I’m buying a new dishwasher. I’m not playing sackcloth and ashes for people who *need* smart phones and have the gall to act Greener Than Thou.

Was in EUROPE and watched Sky and BBC. SKY was definitely right leaning and the liberals they showed were weak like the ones on faux news. And they gave a lot of time to Nigel Farage (sp?)

Follow up question for media interviewers provided free as a public service by your friendly neighborhood gratuitous: "What's your definition of socialism?"

You don't have to be confrontational about the question. In fact, it's probably much better to ask it in a conversational tone, as if "socialist" or "socialism" is a new word you just heard for the first time.
