There is still time to contact your Senators, regardless of their party affiliation, to express your opinion regarding the upcoming impeachment trial. Tell them you want witnesses and documentation to be part of the trial. Inform them that you expect a genuine trial of Trump, not a partisan endorsement of him.
Remind them that you are watching this closely and that it will help you determine who to vote for in your state. Explain that impeachment is a constitutional matter and of the gravest importance. Tell them that any attempt to make it less than a complete trial, with evidence is not acceptable.
They're back home in their own states. We need a few Republicans to vote to make this a fair, complete trial. Your well-reasoned communication with your Senators could help make that happen.
Please, send something to your Senators today, even if they are Republicans. Tell them what you want to see when the trial is held.

(40,970 posts)Voting is just the first step of your duty as a citizen. People need to pick up the phone and call their reps or send email. My friend chastised me for not attending the woman's march in 2017. I asked her how many times she'd called her Congressional reps the year before and she was silent.
Marches and protests are good. They have their place. But calling your reps is equally or more important and it only takes a few minutes, and yet it's something few of us do. I make my calls on Monday mornings. It takes about 15 minutes to compose my thoughts and make the calls.
The last time We the People lit up the Congressional switchboard was the financial crisis of 2008. Are we there yet?

(151,269 posts)We have the capacity to tell our lawmakers what we want them to do. It is a pity that we do not use that more often. Most of my posts of this nature are simply ignored. Why that is I do not know. What I do know is that there are no U.S. Senators on DU. If we want to tell them something, we need to post directly to them.
