In Alex Jones' Sandy Hook deposition, a persona undone

Mark Bankston (Juanita Jean's son) had fun in this depo https://www.statesman.com/news/20191214/in-alex-jonesrsquo-sandy-hook-deposition-persona-undone?fbclid=IwAR0tHC9LXbZP1XjRvdVwAFIAUygH7zfDlOI-I8eZ25o2M5zXV7up2TSExXk

As Houston attorney Mark Bankston, representing Sandy Hook parents in four suits in Austin against Jones and his InfoWars operation, on Nov. 26 methodically asked Jones to explain how he came to report that tragedy as a hoax supposedly orchestrated as a pretext to crack down on gun rights, a subdued Jones seemed mostly befuddled.

Forty-four times he answered, “I don’t remember;” 51 times, “I don’t know.”
Pulling back the curtain on Jones’ news operation, it appeared there was no there there, just a slipshod hodgepodge of rumor, malign supposition, twisted words and recycled misinformation from notably unreliable sources, all hyped by Jones into the truth they don’t want you to know.

Absent his gravelly and ferocious on-air growls, the various “anomalies” that Jones said made him suspicious of events at Sandy Hook, as recounted one by one by Bankston in the quietude of the deposition room, sounded ridiculous.
Jones’ deposition, and those of three InfoWars associates, became public Thursday when they were filed in a Travis County court by

Bankston in the case of Neil Heslin, the father of slain 6-year-old Jesse Lewis.
Bankston also filed a 49-page motion asking state District Judge Scott Jenkins, who is presiding over four Sandy Hook suits, to order a default judgment holding Jones and InfoWars liable without even requiring a jury trial, except to determine the size of the damages, as a consequence of what he contends is their flagrant refusal or inability to seriously answer questions.

reckless and dangerous to those in its path. All to juice up ratings. Bad journalists and / or radio personalities need to be responsible in their reporting, knowing full well that some in their audiences will take their words uttered over the airwaves as gospel and truth. Send alex jones a message...get him for every single dime and freeze all of his assets, otherwise, he's going to hide the money and refuse to pay any settlement.

told me once that the First Amendment (he said "the Constitution&quot means that anyone can say anything he wants, whether it's true or not. People like that think they're patriots. We need a way to help people understand that there are ways to love your country besides carrying a gun and believing whatever conspiracy theory is currently being told. There's always been a contingent of people in America who enjoy discussing bullshit topics, but it's gotten dangerous these days. And we all know who's their favorite President.

Your friend is quite correct as far as his statement that the Constitution allows anyone to say anything they want - except falsely yelling fire in a crowded theater. What the 1st Amendment doesn't do is allow anyone to utter a lie without any consequences. That's the part your friend needs to have explained to him, probably in words of one syllable if at all possible.

I used to follow Jones when he was into the conspiracy stuff relative to Prison Planet because I have an interest in UFOs. His philosophy then was that we are imprisoned on this planet by superior ETs, they controlled us and our souls could not escape the planet grid that the ETs set up. No shit! Go back about 15 years, you'll see.

This is a sick MF, I would love to take him in the ring and beat his ass! Oh, don't forget the antisemitism things he posted or hosted in the past even while he was married to a Jewish woman.

Fri Dec 27, 2019, 12:06 AM

that he admits he was bullshitting the whole time he was on the air spouting his obscene line of crap. And now he rather pathetically claims he doesn't remember his "sources", "that was a long time ago..." Just as an example, he claimed Sandy Hook was, "according to the records" closed on the day of the massacre, but now "can't remember" or "doesn't know" to what "records" he was referring. He admits he claimed "students" were marched around "in circles" and showed a video showing this, except the video doesn't show children and isn't of the Sandy Hook school. He admitted this once, but now "can't remember" details about the video and why it was aired on his show.

And then he looks at his watch, yawns from time to time, like this is all such a waste of his valuable time.

I hope the court fines him for every bloody cent he's got and every cent he'll ever earn. Money can't make up for all the harm he's done, but it's apparently the only thing people of his ilk value and understand.

He sure as hell doesn't understand concepts like truth, morality, or even simple empathy for people who have suffered such devastating loss. He looks at slaughtered children and all he sees are dollar signs.

Pathetic isn't the word for it.

Funny how on his show he pretends to have categoric knowledge and memory of all these past historic events, remembers every nuanced little particular that 'proves' the official story is 'a cover up'. Then when he's off his show, deposed under oath, he can't remember anything and knows nothing about everything.

I noticed his little fake attempt to pretend he doesn't push his show as 'real news', that he actually is engaged in 'opinion', 'punditry', 'commentary', and he just addresses other ' news sources' ' shocking revelations about current events.

Try to get any info about exactly what 'news sources' he's relying on, and he suddenly isn't a pundit, he's a journalist who is protecting his source.

One of the few 'sources' he was willing to cop to relying on was zerohedge, and the deposition taker pointed out that the zerohedge article was actually just covering what Jones was saying about Sandy Hook. Zerohedge used Jones as a source, then Jones tried to use zerohedge as a source, as 'proof' he's just a pundit style observer or commentator.

I also liked how the depo taker tried to ask Jones if there was a difference between 'that woman is pretty' and 'portapotties were delivered in the first hour', or if they were both just 'opinions', or 'statements of fact'. (about 97 minutes in, ~ 11:08).

Notice how sometimes Roger Stone worked for Jones, sometimes Jones worked for Alex Jones. Sometimes Jones worked for tRump, sometimes tRump works for Jones. Sometimes Rudy works for Lev, sometimes Lev works for Rudy. Sometimes Rudy works for Rump, for free. Like Manafort did. Sometimes Rudy is working for himself, not Rump.

I have to thank Mr. Bankston for the observation he made at 1 hour 40 min, ~ 11:11 am in the depo.

"You don't use a teleprompter on your show. In all these videos, you just rattle 'em off, you say 'portapotties, Bloomberg e-mail, greenscreen, helicopters, in the woods, school was closed, videos show it was falling rotting apart, swat team', you just rattle 'em off without a teleprompter. ... And you were able to do that without a teleprompter, but today, sitting in deposition, ever since you got sued, all the sudden you can't remember anything, right?"
