Southern, Western States Set to Gain Congressional Seats

“New state population totals released Monday offer fresh signs of how southern and western states will gain political power after the 2020 census,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“Based on Monday’s figures, Texas is poised to gain two congressional seats, and Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Montana, North Carolina and Oregon are expected to gain one. Eight states are expected to lose one seat: California, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia.”

of districts. It may not eliminate Nunes' district but it may be redrawn in a manner which wil make it more difficult for him to be re-elected. Or his residency may put him in a different district altogether.

All of them could have been counted as Democratic gains along with about a half-dozen other seats that could flip. However, the one candidate for president that could have assisted with turning Texas blue decided to withdraw. Losing up to ten Congressional seats for a decade is something that will be bewildering when looked at in hindsight. I still think that Biden has a chance of winning Texas in the general election, but I doubt that he has the coattails to help other Texas Democrats.

Meanwhile, the gerrymandering will continue and also affect state Senate and House elections.

We would get better representation under the parliamentary riding-based system of Canada.
The ridings are smaller and more equal population-wise. Plus the 2nd amendment goes bye-bye.

Province of New England.
Province of New York.
Province of Michigan.
Province of Minnesota.
