With New York likely to lose at least one congressional seat, the district held by Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could be broken up, forcing her to find a new winning coalition. Theres little love for the disruptive young upstart in Albany, and many state lawmakers would like nothing more than to redraw her out of office. Ocasio-Cortez seems aware of the threat, as shes been promoting Census sign-ups in her district to ensure that her constituents are fully counted.

Of course that does not matter to the right wingers and centrists who like to demonize her for no real reason other than she, as a woman of color, climbed the ladder to success, put a white man out of a job and is good at what she does.

(11,760 posts)She most certainly is a woman of color. I am born and raised in California with a family history in California spanning back 150 years and White people STILL ask me where I am REALLY from and compliment me on how well I speak English.
Being a citizen of the US has absolutely NOTHING to to with being a person of color. Stacey Abrams I am sure, can trace her heritage WAY back in US history and she is a woman of color.
Rethink your statement...

Actually there's a grouping in Galway/Mayo who have that easily tanned skin, that it is reckoned have a connection to the Spanish Armada survivors who landed there in 1588.

(22,606 posts)Solved the problem by redistricting him into a redder population. Rep. Doggett simply put on his walking shoes and started knocking on doors. He's still serving!

I think this article is just fake news thrown to their conservative base.
