Curious of whether Putin manipulated Trump for the attack

Trump always said he was going to withdraw the troops from the Middle East. And he is trying to do this with Syria, after Putin asked him to.

On the other hand, Trump has been described as "counter puncher" (I call it thin skinned, immature..) so one would have expected that every time someone is killing an American soldier, or a contractor, that he would "counter punch..

and says "Yes, Sir!"
