Best suggestion I have heard today re John Bolton.

I was listening to MSNBC and I hear a commentator -- not sure who -- suggest the following:

If Bolton wants to testify and is agreeable to do so pursuant to a congressional subpoena, then let Schiff open the impeachment hearings and subpoena him again.

Works for me. If Bolton wants to put it out there -- most likely for his book sales -- that he has something to say, then let him say it or STFU.

if Bolton has something explosive to say during a public hearing, it would likely cause book sales of his to skyrocket.

The house has to do it. He can't refuse now. The house will be prosecuting the charges and he needs to be deposed on the record.

That means to me that he wants the soft treatment from rethugs. He does not want the harder grilling that House Democrats would do.

That makes Bolton a coward and liar who wants to look tough and get away with everything he has done. What a snowflake.

Also, he's pleased as punch that we might be going to war with Iran, so he's loving the orange menace right now. I don't trust him one bit to tell the truth about what really happened. Even under oath.

Would to me make his testimony -- and thus his book -- less credible as to any facts he sets out.

Just like in the House, the Republicans in the Senate will give him soft treatment, but also like in the House, the Democrats will NOT give him soft treatment. Therefore, it would be the same regardless of which house of Congress has him testify.

6. John Bolton as Nick Tortelli
Mon Jan 6, 2020, 04:09 PM
Jan 2020

If you remember the sitcom "Cheers," waitress Carla's ex-husband Nick Tortelli showed up from time to time trying to win back her affection. In one episode, he wanted to show Carla how serious he was about how he had changed and that she should take her back. He positioned the tea light at the table and said he was going to hold his hand over it until she agreed to give him another chance. Carla tried to talk him out of it, but Nick was adamant. Finally, Carla tells Nick to forget it, she's never going back to him. Nick makes good on his threat, and holds hand over the candle . . . at the highest point he can reach. Carla points out to Nick that that's not very persuasive, and it would be more dramatic if he held his hand much closer to the candle. Nick says, "What, there are rules to this?"

In the same way, Bolton knows the Senate is never going to issue him a subpoena, just like Nick knew that the candle wasn't going to burn his hand. Color me as severely unimpressed with John Bolton's sudden statement of civic duty.

Bolton has wanted that guy assassinated forever. The day after he is killed, Bolton agrees to testify, I bet to exonerate the orange menace.

Bolton got to thinking he'd like a piece of the action himself. Put together his own little drug deal - why not? Everyone's doing it, after all.

but Bolton's lawyer threatened to go to court to block it. So, it looks like the Democrats said "fuck it, he'll just refuse to show up like all the other trumpanzees." They withdrew the subpoena.

Exactly this.

He said that he hadn't testified before the House because he hadn't received a subpoena.

Note: I loathe Bolton and have steadily and consistently since 1982 - with very good personal reason to.

I also don't trust him at all. So I am somewhat torn when he says that he is willing to testify.

It's telling that he's only offered to testify to the chamber that he favors. I don't trust him or McConnell one fucking bit.
