Anybody else just watch Willie Geist fellate
Hair Furor’s “policy” on Iran?
I don’t need to eat breakfast: he stated that Trump, as though he knew anything about anything, maneuvered a positive outcome having first killed the second in command in Iran. Willie, you moron: to quote a famous singer “It’s only just begun”. It’s as though a junior high school student in New York wrote an “in-depth” piece for the school newspaper on the mayoral election. Willie was too-gently admonished by the guest to not make any assumptions. I guess as a member of the lucky-sperm club at msnbc in the fashion of Luke Russert, he gets to pontificate upon subjects of which he obviously knows nothing. Painful.

1. Amazing how many people think this is it, Iran's satisfied
https://www.democraticunderground.com/100212851814
Yashar Ali (journalist and Iran expert) is convinced this is not over: Yashar Ali 🐘 ✔ @yashar 1. I want to express this carefully cause I don't want to minimize anything that results in loss of life. But missiles flying back/forth in Mid East is all too common (something US can handle) & not what makes me nervous about the Soleimani situation 2. What makes me nervous is illustrated in the WSJ story. The Iranian government has always operated on its own timeline. If you think Iran lobbing missiles over the border is the kind of revenge they ultimately have in mind, you're wrong. https://on.wsj.com/2QYlSMP 3. Example: In 2012, assassins kill an Iranian nuclear chemist (likely directed by Israel). Iran promises revenge. Where does the ultimate revenge take place? A month later in Georgia, India and Thailand where Israeli diplomats are targeted with bombshttps: https://on.wsj.com/2QYlSMP Where did Iran retaliate? In Buenos Aires with a truck bomb driven into the Israeli embassy. That attack killed 29 people Another attack two years later took place at the Jewish Community Center killing 85 people 4. Example: In 1992, IDF killed the Sec General of Hezbollah Where did Iran retaliate? In Buenos Aires with a truck bomb driven into the Israeli embassy. That attack killed 29 people Another attack two years later took place at the Jewish Community Center killing 85 people 5. Those examples are pretty tight timelines for Iranians. The Iranian gov sees revenge as almost a generational thing...their timeline can be in months/years. Revenge always doesn't come via a show of force they take PUBLIC credit for. 6. So what I'm saying is all these people with their chest thumping, I would be cautious about what you see as Iranian revenge and unfortunately prepare yourselves for the kind of attacks that are unexpected, that don't follow a tight timeline, and show up where you least expect 7. If people think that this is it...that Iran has chosen to retaliate against the US for killing the second most powerful man in Iran, by lobbing some missiles across the border that didn't result in US casualties then I have a bridge to sell you 8. I can't believe I'm seeing people saying that this was a face saving move by Iran and now that there haven't been any US casualties, that we should move on. The level of naivety is astonishing. Do people really think this is how Iran is going to retaliate? 9. Read Jake’s tweet...for those of you thinking this is just a weak response from Iran & that they’re terrified of the US mil, ask yourself if this how a nation that has funded attacks globally would respond to the killing of its most important General Jake Tapper 10. That may very well be true, but if people think this is the only way Iranians will respond then they’re unaware of the reality. So while POTUS is taking the off ramp, the Iranians will sit and wait and do what they want and when they want to do it. 11. The problem is so many people have thought about this situation through the lens of conventional warfare. So they believe if there is no conventional warfare that the situation has deescalated. But conventional warfare should have never been the concern! 10:26 PM - Jan 7, 2020 Chucking missiles at a US base and intending to NOT kill anyone - it's simply not proportional to the killing of Soleimani (to the Iranians, at least). |

4. It's a shame, they are far from done. They are rightfully
angry, he was a horrible man and the world is better off without him, but he was theirs. Imagine how the US would behave if they killed Mattis?(unfortunately, I can't think of a current comparison to their general.)

8. That thought has been gnawing at me.
I keep stumbling over the word “complacent.”
As in - I can’t help but suspect that the Iranians set up a ruse. Shoot some bombs toward a target and blow it up and make some noise. Nobody of ours killed. Okay, they’re done. Nice ‘n’ neat. They got their rocks off and made their statement. So it’s over, right? Not so fast! I can’t help but feel that they’re now going to lay low for awhile and let the dust settle and allow Americans to think “well, okay. That’s that. Everybody relax. Stand down red alert.” I think maybe they’re biding their time now. Lettin’ it go. The opponent (ie: us) eases up and lets down their guard. And THAT’S when they strike. A few weeks or months from now. Outta nowhere. With no clue or warning given. Just BOOM! |

9. Please read this article posted before, Warning: article sad, this post is also sad....
Warning, this is sad, horrific history, as is this entire post..., you have been warned..got that?
https://www.democraticunderground.com/1016245240 A U.S. Navy ship accidently shot down an Iranian airliner in July 1988 - 270 were killed. Retaliation came on December 28, 1988....Five and one half months later..got that.? Let's say that again..........5 and 1/2 months later..Read the above article. or if you do not want to, then do the research yourself... .Iran takes time to revenge...When Iran hit Pan Am flight 103 in December, 1988 290 people were killed. Only complete idiots do not learn from history. ..... And this one is much worse...and chances are you forgot. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot by an assassin in 1914...When that particular incident was totally played out, with total stupidity, 20 million people were killed. ...Historians called it .........."The Great War"...That is what historians called it in the 1920s..got that? ...Historians renamed that war after another war began in 1939...The Great War, became World War I, and that next war that killed at least twice as many (estimates range from 50 million to 60 million...became World War II. got that?...Only complete idiots do not learn from history...got that? |
