This Robert Hyde freak claimed he was simply drunk when he texted Parnas...

...who he claimed to have barely known, and that he was just joking around.

Meanwhile, this stalking/possible assassination of Ambassador Yovanovitch narrative that he was telling Parnas about lasted for a total of eight days.

So his "defense" was that he was drunk for a period of eight straight days and spent that time texting someone he claimed was a stranger about stalking and physically harming a US Ambassador.

HYDE for U.S. Congress? @rfhyde1 · 12h12 hours ago

How low can liddle Adam Bull Schiff go? I was never in Kiev. For them to take some texts my buddy’s and I wrote back to some dweeb we were playing with that we met a few times while we had a few drinks is definitely laughable. Schiff is a desperate turd playing with this Lev guy.

I do believe that he benefited from the olden time view that frat boys were allowed great license due to the Animal House phenomenon. Not that it should have been an excuse. Now that we see them grow up and see the trail of recklessness follow them into the Supreme Court, I suspect those days are very over.

About Animal House and Tim Matheson, who played Otter. Much later he would play the role of a father in the movie, "She's All That." The son, Freddie Prince Jr. who played Zack was at the same age that Otter was in Animal House and he gets a reality check by his father, Matheson. I SWEAR THAT PATERNAL SPEECH WAS A THROW-BACK TO OTTER'S DAYS IN COLLEGE. IT WAS ALL ABOUT WASTED YOUTH.

I've tried to find a transcript but without success.

22. Michael Deaver tried that defense
Wed Jan 15, 2020, 12:43 PM
Jan 2020

Michael Deaver was Reagan's chief of staff before leaving the White House to cash in on his connections. Newsweek had a cover story about him, smiling broadly from the back seat of a limo while holding up a mobile phone. The caption "Who is this man calling" was the headline for a soft-focus puff piece on a new power player in Washington.

It all fell apart for Deaver when he started throwing his weight around and treading on the toes of more established power players. He was eventually indicted for influence peddling, and initially brought his usual attorneys out to plead his case in the court of public opinion. Their first gambit was that Deaver was a black-out drunk and couldn't possibly be held accountable for calls he made whilst imbibing. I saw that excuse and I thought, "Oh boy, there's probably only about a million guys sitting in jails and prisons right now for crimes they committed while drunk or high. Let's see how this alibi works out for a Washington big shot." It didn't.

We'll see if the "I was drunk" defense has gotten any credible in the last 25 years.

Mr. Hyde, your own defense is that YOU were the one "playing with this guy". And you further claim there is nothing wrong with that.
