The list is endless. Billy Graham Jr., Jerry Falwell Jr., and so many others.
Want a clue as to who they are? Check out the diamond pinky rings, the $5,000 suits, the limos. These pricks are peddling Jesus like snake oil. And millions of Americans are buying it.
And a big part of the snake oil they're selling is Donald Trump. Who in the world would buy him as their latest "savior?" Go figure.
Nonetheless, this is the current reality we're living in. Who would have ever believed that millions of Americans were so gullible?
There's not a chance in the world of changing the way these people vote. So we need to outvote them by huge numbers.
Those guys who signed the Constitution were pretty damn smart. But even they could not have foreseen today's insanity.

That is what I am realizing too. Someone has figured out that elevating ignorance makes a whole new tent of people who will support anything. Make their ignorance something to be proud of and frankly it makes one a Real American. Democracy is vulnerable to those who wish to destroy it.

(14,859 posts)The majority of Christian voters in the US in 2016, that's who. The majority of Christian voters cast their ballots for Trump in that election. It's likely that most of them will enthusiastically do it again in 2020, if they're given the chance.

(15,044 posts)If you've never seen the film "Elmer Gantry," which is a perfect example of these con men, rent, borrow, or beg someone for a dvd copy. It's an outstanding film that fully captures who and what these people are.
However, the big difference is that, Burt Lancaster brings a humanity to the role that these people are using to enrich themselves. You know he's a con man, but there's a kindness at the heart of the con artist he portrays. This is Hollywood. I believe that most of today's Jesus peddlers are some of the worst pricks in the human race.

(100,090 posts)Holy crap, that show has the televangelist lifestyle nailed - these guys appear righteous one minute and the next they're total con artists. It's really brilliant.

(15,044 posts)All anyone has to do is watch one of these guys on TV for maybe 15 minutes before you "get it."
Anyone who already is onto them won't watch them at all. But for someone who just arrived from Mars and gets a basic sense of what humanity is about, would figure it out pretty quickly.
I guess that's why, in some cases, it's called "brainwashing," or "Stockholm Syndrome." But for those who don't fit into these categories, all that can be said is that their brains have become nothing different than organisms that function like the knee jerk reaction. A doctor strikes your knee and your leg goes up. Hannity, or Limbaugh, or Trump or any member of their gangster organization says something, and you nod your head in agreement.
Who ever could possibly have guessed that millions of Americans are totally incapable of rational thought? Or, to be more blunt, who could have guessed that millions of Americans are filled with so much hate that their brains are dysfunctional and they will vote against their own well being?
