Republicans must acquit Trump before any more truth leaks out!

Column: Republican senators must acquit Trump in impeachment trial before any more truth leaks out by Rex Huppke

As a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, I demand that Republican senators in charge of the upcoming impeachment trial swiftly acquit the commander in chief before any more truth leaks out...

...

The last thing we need is to see a great president, who we Trump supporters have built up to be an avatar of American strength and decency, get knocked down by stupid things like facts...

I wonder to what extent Poe's Law will apply to this Chicago Tribune article.

This was a new one for me. For those who aren't familiar with it, Nathan Poe's original statement was, "Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is utterly impossible to parody a Creationist in such a way that someone won't mistake for the genuine article."

This column is obviously parody. But in the Era of Trump, it's often impossible to tell fact from fiction.

Rex Huppke is a humor columnist. Here's his bio from the Chicago Tribune:

Rex Huppke writes a humor(ish) column. He is considered (by himself) to be America’s most-beloved columnist, though there is no empirical evidence of that. Before becoming a columnist he spent a decade reporting on social justice issues, from poverty and gang violence to the gay civil rights movement. He previously worked for The Associated Press.

Thanks for the post, Towlie.

And the quandary for Republicans is they'll look complicit if they acquit. Not that they really care but they do care about getting re-elected. This looks really bad on them for a long time if they rig the impeachment.
