One thing I never understand - When the Reps say this is a "Political Witchhunt"

And that the only reason the Dems are impeaching Trump is because we didn't like him from the get-go and we're trying to steal the White House when we couldn't win it fair and square in a national election...

...why don't we remind them that removal of Trump STILL LEAVES a Republican in the White House?

I'm growing tired of the mischaracterization and the lack of a spine with the media. Granted, these are permanent afflications.

1. Indeed

Nobody is trying to install Hillary Clinton as president, which is what undoing the results of the 2016 election would mean. But it's easier for overpaid lazy journalists to repeat that canard than to go to the trouble of correcting it. Also, when Trump and the Republicans complain about "due process," nobody thinks to say that this is an impeachment proceeding, not a criminal trial. Further, any failure of due process came because Trump absolutely refused to participate in the House proceedings, and ordered his underlings and former underlings not to cooperate with the House investigations.

5. also, there's not much to "due process" for the accused at the indictment stage

which is what the impeachment process is, by analogy to the criminal process.

the accused often doesn't speak or call witnesses while the prosecutor is investigating and seeking an indictment. most of the "due process" part comes in during arrest and trial, which is the senate part and had yet to come when they were complaining about it.

3. the only reasonable counter is to make it clear how idiotic such statements are

but somehow the media thinks they're being "professional" by allowing treating clearly idiotic statements as legitimate points of view.

seriously, the media could end all this nonsense in a matter of days if it wanted to, just by going "wow, that's the stupidest thing i ever heard" every time a republican spouts such nonsense.

but instead, they let their audience to continue to believe that republican politicians aren't part of an insane cult, thus perpetuating the problem....

4. And meanwhile, FOX deliberately avoids reporting actual, compelling news

Which amounts to propaganda by omission.
