***JANUARY PHOTO Contest -- FINALS***
Our theme this month is: In Honor of the Roman God, Janus (god of doors, beginnings and endings, transitions facing forwards and backwards)
We ran three preliminary threads, one of which was quite a bit more competitive than the other two, so I am going to use host's prerogative and expand the finals to 9 photos.
For the first time, under our new rules, the winner will NOT have to host the next contest. However, the winner will be awarded the prize of selecting the theme for the FEBRUARY contest and communicating the theme to the VOLUNTEER Host for February, Mira, by February 1st.

To my eyes, although all are lovely shots, only two really fit the theme: "Doorway Back to the Hidden City" and "Tug-of-Times", as they both show old and new and beginnings and endings, with the former best demonstrating the theme - particularly with the fog adding to its intrigue.
