In 1974, this is what the Repubs feared...

when they went to Nixon and told him he didn't have the votes if he went all the way, so he resigned. They knew the House had the goods on Nixon and the Senate was unlikely to have the 35 votes necessary to protect his job. The current situation ecoes that one almost exactly.

Times have definitely changed, and Repubs basically think they can survive this shitstorm. They have a friendly news media in Fox and the RW echo chamber. Their base seems solid.

We'll see if rationality will win out in the end. We can only hope and work to GOTV this fall.

...the votes to remove him in that his support in the Senate had collapsed.

Not sure if I remember this correctly...such a long time ago. BUT...I would LOVE to see tRump go the same way as Nixon!

I am soooooooooooo hoping that others than those of us who are political junkies are watching this. The Dems are totally brilliant in the way they are handing the resolutions. However, I fear that many are not watching and seeing the truth.

However, I feel and ache in my chest watching justice and the truth being blocked.

We have each other and in the assault on our nation, at least we have others to hold and hug. Helps with the pain.

Today's version doesn't have liberals/progressives, or moderates in the House or Senate. Just "conservative" ideological lock-steppers that only answer to the RNC and Trump.
