I have a question about something that makes no sense to me.

The repubs act like they have been lobotomized and they will do anything the dear leader commands them to do.
They live in fear of being a target of a raving lunatic in the WH. I can't understand why they don't fight back because
in my mind they have the numbers and if they would develop a pair of cojones they could take him out.
If they utilized the opportunity this impeachment presents he would cease to have any power over them or anything. All they have to
do is vote to remove him. There is nothing Mitch or Trump could do to stop the vote once started.

This is what I think, please tell me what I am missing. Thanks

and I think both Trump and Barr have access to it. Barr would likely start investigations if they do not fall in line. No excuse but time for it all to come out to the public. Just takes one to come clean and spill the goods.

up to Trump. He could start an independant party. That leaves the GOP with about 3% of the electorate.

he won't have the time to start or run an independent party. I agree with the OP - there's power in numbers and this is the chance for the Repugs to rid themselves of Trump once and for all. All they need is 20 Repugs to vote with the Dems to remove Trump from office.

I was under the impression that if he was removed by congress, he was prohibited form holding office for anything. Not even dog catcher.
Also he would be in heavy legal trouble. Of course this is if things went like they should, these days what should happen and what does happen are diametrically opposed.
I personally hope he is given the Mussolini treatment. I know it won't happen, but a girl can dream.

3. Speculation...

My concern is that there is something more to this whole thing than meets the eye. If there wasn't, the motivations would be far more obvious and clear. I don't think they fear Trump, but rather, they want to enable him for their own benefit.

I have posted some screeds on my speculations concerning that. I think the Republicans have something very important to gain that makes them behave this way. It may be very risky, but they have long-term issues as a relevant party in this country. The demographics make that very clear.

1. They are craven hacks who care nothing about democracy and care only about getting re-elected and holding onto their political power.

2. They have been threatened in some way and they actually fear for their safety and well being.

3. They have been bribed.

The only thing I can surmise, since nothing they’re doing makes sense, is that there is something we don’t know about that is making them so brazenly corrupt. They’re caught redhanded. They’ve been exposed and shamed. Yet they keep going, pretending not to notice Americans are screaming at them.

I don't think that was an idle boast.

It doesn't even have to mean that Donnie might ever personally order a hit. Well, he did, but that was against an enemy of America. Which is exactly how he describes democrats. But anyway, point is, Donnie has supporters who are willing and eager to commit violence and it wouldn't take as much as an explicit order to get them to act.

Hell, I'm sure some Russians would love to get in on that action...

Certainly there's kompromat, and also a clear path to riches by sticking with the Republican establishment. But I think there's also a threat of violence.
