(36,053 posts)He said that they must remember the historical decorum called for by the chamber they are in.
Is that clearer?
Nadler had had it, and finally told them off about their being judged right along with this president.
I was pissed that he admonished both equally when Republicans have dumped more dirt in that chamber than ANY one. So I mocked him.
I can't stand John Roberts, I've made that well known in the past. If it weren't for him and Bush, this country wouldn't even be in this cesspool of corruption.

(32,701 posts)The GOP has done absolutely nothing to deserve respect!
"Remember who you're addressing?"
Yeah, that's the problem. Nadler remembers.

SamKnause
(13,102 posts)Then he admonished both sides.
He certainly wasn't referring to all the lies told by the republicans.
They think they deserve respect.
Very few in that room have earned it.
Mersky
(4,981 posts)Roberts comes in for an admonishment for each side. Huh. What was that term, pediflogging? No, it was pettifogging.

(4,981 posts)Then had to back out of that to see roberts speaking more than just reading a little script for procedural bits. Just stunned me. Im not sure what I think of it.
I know we wouldnt be in half of the world of shit were in without roberts court. And I am rather pissed he was moved to chime in this late, and not earlier for the litany of smears and lies coming from the right.

(4,981 posts)I didnt think hed come in and interfere, say, by calling for dismissal like giuliani was claiming on fox a couple weeks ago - I thought that was absurd. Decorum paddling, though? That just threw me about his role.
I must comment that the Van Hollen amendment at the end forcing the republicans to vote against affirming that the presiding officer, CJ, can make final vote on the question of calling witnesses is breathtaking next to Roberts interjection.

BumRushDaShow
(128,936 posts)I.e., does not guarantee the ability to maybe possibility to vote and debate on witnesses...
Amendment will strip out the layers that would preclude having a debate to hold a vote on a resolution for certain witnesses.

(81,238 posts)As the night wore on, Jay Sekulow embodied it.
"When you don't have the facts, argue the law.
When you don't have the law, argue the facts.
When you don't have either the law OR the facts, POUND THE TABLE!"
And so help me, that's what Jay Sekulow DID, tonight! You could almost see the steam rising out of his widdle ears! OH the drama! OH the indignation! OH the histrionics! OH boy!
And former Florida GOP Rep. David Jolly, an MSNBC staple, came right out and said Cipollone LIED. "He LIED." Which is accurate. Claiming the CONS were shut out of the high-security room down in the basement - when THREE committees were called in, to review classified documents, INCLUDING about 100 GOP members of those three committees. That was a flat-out LIE! Isn't there some penalty for lying during these things, especially when you're supposedly a credible legal expert?
And now, I also notice, since the proceedings have just adjourned, folks heading out are walking briskly down the down-escalator, not just standing and riding down.
