This is the Dec. 18 comment (re the trial) posted by Toomey on his website.
"Today marks the culmination of a highly partisan process that achieved a longstanding goal of many House Democrats: impeaching President Trump.
"It is my hope that the process in the Senate will be fair, unlike the process in the House where the controversial tactics used by Speaker Pelosi and Chairmen Nadler and Schiff broke with bipartisan precedent and denied the president the due process rights afforded to past presidents.
"In a Senate trial, House impeachment managers should be permitted to make their case, and the president's lawyers should be able to make their defense. At the conclusion of these presentations, the Senate can then decide what further steps may be necessary."
I replied with a brief email. I'm going to call his PA (philadelphia ... 215 241 1090) office and ask the following questions;
What controversial tactics did Speaker Pelosi use?
What due process was denied to the president?
Why did you vote against subpoenaing witnesses and documents?
I will also email him again noting that his above comment is total BS.
HOE MANY PENNSYLVANIANS are here on DU? Is there a way to find out.? Toomey is a backbencher - a "mute ninny" as my mom referred to cowards. He's not going to change but needs to know he's being watched.
Will follow up with post after my phone call.

I just called the Phila. office given in the OP and the person listened to me and answered my question about Toomey's stance ... but she did NOT ask where I live, or my name, or anything, and I don't believe she was keeping any tally of callers. I could be wrong.
I asked where Toomey stood on calling witnesses, and her response was "Senator Toomey wants to hear from both sides and then will make a decision on whether more witnesses or documents should be needed". (paraphrase of course but I think pretty close)
My response was that I would have hoped he would have already reviewed the House materials, but in any case this the House proceeding was more like the grand jury in a real trial, so we should expect that there will be more relevant evidence to be presented, and I hoped that he would support that. I asked her if she would pass along my comments, and she said she would ... but have you ever heard an eyeroll through the phone? I swear I just did.
I'm not holding my breath for Toomey to do the right thing.

(22,123 posts)from my county and then give my zip code. I have had words with a guy in the DC office several times. Yesterday I tried to get through four times and ended up leaving a voice mail. The DC people are snippy. Im always polite and try to keep it short.
I call my Rep quite a bit. He is an Reublican sheep in a safe seat (GT Thompson). His local office staff are very nice.
I dont know whether they keep track or not. If you send an e-mail, you usually get a reply in time. Its always a form letter tailored to your general question/complaint.
