I believe that the amendments part of the process does not count against their 24 hours. But it was a great way to get a lot of detailed information into the record.

It didn't really take up "so much time". The trial under those rules began this afternoon as scheduled.

What does it hurt to get the opposition on record voting for things that are easy to paint as unreasonable?

The reasonable. The Democrats are peeling away the layers of deceit that make up the Senate GOP. Exposing them for the Trump ass-kissers they are.

Mitch McConnell might not know it yet, but he just may have lost the Senate and solidified a more United House under Nancy Pelosi.

And it apparently caught Trump's defense team off guard, because articles were reporting yesterday how they were expecting it to be a lazy day of procedural motions and instead they found themselves scrambling to come up with defenses on the fly in response to the House impeachment managers using their time to begin making their case.
