Remember the Grand Bargain between Trump, Netanyahu, MBS, MBZ, and Putin.
Putin wanted an end to sanctions, weakening of NATO and the European Union, and a free hand in Ukraine and elsewhere in the “Russian sphere of influence.”
Netanyahu wanted more control over the Palestinians (and Israel in general), more unquestioning support from the US, a free hand in settlements in the Palestinian territories, and an aggressively hostile stance toward Iran.
The Gulf monarchies (specifically Saudi Arabia and the UAE) also wanted an aggressively hostile stance toward Iran - and more arms sales, nuclear technology, more support for their war in Yemen, and an end to US support for any kind of democratic or liberal movements in the Arab world.
All of them hated or grew to hate Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. All of them wanted more wealth, more power, and access to the President and his inner circle - including his family. All of them wanted no criticism and no accountability. And all of them were willing to pay top dollar to the political and business leaders of the USA - the world’s superpower - in exchange for it. And the less democratic the US itself became, the more corrupt our so-called leaders and our institutions became, all the better for them!
