...that the optics of the Super Bowl / SOTU victory laps would be terrible, that McConnell needs the Republican senators behind him to make the acquittal happen, that between the timing and the Bolton stuff, there's no way he could kick this across the finish line TODAY without major, devastating blowback, and there will be blowback ANYWAY when the expected acquittal comes, but even McConnell in all of his "Grim Reaper" arrogance knows shutting it all down today would be a BAD IDEA.
