Democrats need a strategy going forward. It requires accepting some hard realities.
A reckless and lawless president needed to be held accountable. The Democrats did their job. Unfortunately, the Republicans in the Senate did not. That is the first reality.
Secondly, it is obvious that they have no plans to hold the president accountable for anything. There is little need to offer facts or to proselytize. Their feet are set in concrete.
Thirdly, we have to do what is best for the country. Also, we must be true to ourselves. We must protect our Constitution. No one can be above the law. We will protect our country.
Perhaps a few Democrats, the ones frequently on TV, should attempt a temporary boycott (on certain subjects) on the cable news networks? Any questions asked about Donald Trump, the impeachment, or anything related, should be addressed to the Republican Party. Let them explain it. Just a thought.
The free press can be a very valuable weapon.
There are people in a certain Party that need to explain why they would deny witnesses in a trial? What were they trying to hide? It's not about political Party. It is about the rule of law.
Nancy Pelosi is right. It is a "cover-up". But what are they covering up??

(32,641 posts)Second thing is we need to stand united at this time in history.
No one should attack any Democratic candidate. Let the other party take care of that. Respect the intelligence of our voters to do the research.
Accept the how the majority of the party votes in the primary...no sour grapes, please.
All that crap didn't help us win in 2016.

(721 posts)Refuse to engage on these topics. Point reporters to the Republicans.
We've done our job. We've done all we can. Until we control the Senate there is little else to be gained.
Trump benefits when he can paint his adversaries as extreme, livid, irrational. Don't play into his game.
Calmly refer all iquiries on the coverup (USE THAT TERM) to the Republican spokespeople. Then move on to talking about how Democrats will fix the country.
Take the focus of Trump, which is where he wants it. Hit him where it hurts (his EGO) and just continue talking about how we will fix things.
Start ignoring Trump. Shun him.
This could work.

When they go low, stomp the shit outta them while theyre down there. It has been said that politics is a dirty game...time to take off the environmental suits and play the tucking game the nastier the better.
Lie, cheat, steal, its all legal now. Its ok. Precedent has been set.

(11,725 posts)I have to disagree on this.
If we cheat to win, steal, or whatever unethical and previously illegal practices the Republicans use then what are we even fighting for? We can't claim any legitimacy if we win other than "We cheated better". Then we have to cheat and steal, and oppress the other side to STAY in power.
I definitely think that we need to stop being "too nice" and following rules of decorum and other nonsense that Republicans abandoned long ago and still try (and often succeed) in holding Democrats to. We need to call a liar a liar and a criminal a criminal. We need to call them on their bullshit, to their face, and shout over them. When they complain that we are being mean we just say, "Fuck you, you dirty cheating bastard, I AM being nice here, as nice as you deserve".
That other stuff about lying and cheating though, is just a path to something we don't want, and could never correct.
We have to give voters something to vote for WHILE body checking the Republicans. Fight, and fight HARD, but do not resort to cheating.

(1,900 posts)Putin has dirt on all of them as well as Trump, and shared the dirt with Trump so he can use it too. At the very least they all took NRA money that came from Russia. We're going to have to win by 30 points to have a 1 point victory. No democrat can stay home on election day, I fear it's our only hope.

(9,670 posts)DONALD TRUMP IS GUILTY. MIKE PENCE IS GUILTY. MIKE POMPEO IS GUILTY. RICK PERRY IS GUILTY. MICK MULVANEY IS GUILTY. RUDY GIULIANI IS GUILTY. THE WHOLE FILTHY LOT OF THEM ARE GUILTY.
Charges were brought. Not a scintilla of evidence was entered that vindicated the accused.
THE ACCUSED IS GUILTY.
THE ENTIRE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS GUILTY OF OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE.
GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY.
Two can play this game, and we've got the numbers. They're still a minority in this country. And they're GUILTY.
