Some are recommending a second impeachment.

I disagree. Such a thing would end the same way as he first, almost certainly.

Instead, it is now time to focus our attention on the upcoming elections. As new information and evidence appear, we should make them part of our election strategy.

Not only do we elect a President in November, but we can also elect a Democratic majority in the Senate. Doing so will take hard work and a strong focus on those goals.

In our campaigns, we can convict both Donald Trump and the GOP-majority Senate.

I suggest we focus on winning both things in November and let history judge the impeachment and trial on their merits.

Do not let this fool get away with anything. Investigate the hell out of him and his hench-fools and challenge them in the courts if they do further nonsense. It can still run parallel with all the things you say, which are indeed critical.

For the current Ukraine issue, they should at least try for Bolton and Parnas. Bolton likely won't fly, but Parnas is quite good.

This is for the hearts and minds of the American people, not the kangaroo court that is the US Senate.

Totally agree, however, that the real emphasis is on what you say.

Folks like Pompeo, Mulvaney, Barr have ample reasons to be called before Congressional committees for things unrelated to the Ukraine conspiracy. Force them to be on the defensive simply by mentioning that whatever the new evidence is represents new, different impeachable offenses. I agree that we should not indulge in another impeachment effort, but we should not announce that we are not going to go after him again. Keep them busy trying to defend the indefensible--I think this impeachment has shaken them up enough to make them dread the thought of having to go through all this again.

..their job and constitutional duties, even when the GOP in the Senate does not. They must not only make sure these are investigated and put on the record for voters to see, but also for history...otherwise our democracy has truly died.

My sources on Capital Hill say that there were additional charges that had been considered - yes, including bribery and extortion as well as other unrelated to Ukraine offenses that are also bad and now they may start to bring those to light.

The big picture of this Impeachment was that the entire GOP and in particular many members of the Senate, House, Justice Dept and White House and Cabinet Members are active participants in a conspiracy and cover up. There will be more to come and Devin Nunes, Lindsey Graham, Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, Rick Perry, Mick Mulvaney, Mitch McConnell and many more should be nervous. They will be exposed.

Where I do agree is that the focus needs to be on the elections and getting voter registration and election protection to be a priority and spending money on the Senate Elections for 2020 - big time.

Impeachment’s can begin after the elections and going in to 2021, with a new Senate that would be under Democratic leadership and hopefully a Democratic President. Donald Trump needs to be removed and it will come.

There would be no downside to exposing other crimes the same way.

Additionally, for a president to be impeached twice, especially by such able opponents who state the issues so clearly, would put trump into a criminal class by himself. Which, again in terms of history, is where he belongs.

So far, he has exercised that "carte blanche" authority all along. And there have been zero real consequences. I don't see that anything has changed, nor that there is any potential for it to change.

So, I'm suggesting that we re-focus on November and put all of our energies into that, which may well include blowing the whistle on other things he has done. Another impeachment will accomplish nothing, since it would have the same result this one did.

Pelosi and company knew conviction was never coming. The Democrats forced the GOP's hand. Forced them to forever put their seal of approval on their acceptance of a lawless president as nothing less than their King. What happened yesterday was a black mark on them forever. A mark that the Democrats can use to gain victory in the Senate in November.

Further impeachment at this point is only going to be seen as petty and Democrats being "sore losers", unless something so vile comes to the surface that even the GOP will support removal with absolute enthusiasm. (Hint: NOTHING could ever make that happen short of drumpf openly using the military to kill Americans on our home soil. and even then i assume they would come up with a rationale.)

We have succeeded in our goal. We linked drumpf and the rest of the GOP hand in hand. There is no longer any distinction between the two. And nowhere for any of their candidates to hide from that truth.

now, crush them in November.

Sat Feb 1, 2020, 01:00 PM
Feb 2020

Or if the 2020 election is even more rigged than 2016?

Or what if we win, but Trump refuses to vacate his office?

Or what if he vacates his office but establishes a not-so-shadow government that introduces duality and utter confusion among the electorate?

Donald Trump and the Republicans have just shat upon the Constitution and will probably do one or two or a thousand victory laps in the coming weeks. Their true believers still would prefer an illegal Republican government over a "librul" one, and this includes admission that crimes were committed, but the end justified the means.

I agree, in principle, with what you say. But I'm afraid we're going to try to continue to play by the rules while they continue to undermine and even destroy the very fabric of our existence. We may come out in a blue wave that'll do us all proud, but they may steal the election with the help of criminal enterprise the world round, and we'll be the baby they're holding under the water.

(forgive my desperation, but tell me one thing that has happened since 2016 that gives you faith that an unprecedented and unforeseen attack on our democracy won't be successful, and 2018 doesn't count because they've since quashed the Mueller investigation, added Barr, and seem to have all 3 branches of the government sewn up)

So, we have the 2020 election. It will take place. It can't be stopped, since states run elections.

There are all sorts of things that could happen, and you listed a few. However, we will almost certainly give the election a chance. So, let's make this election a great one. That's the least we can do, don't you think.

If that is taken from us, then we can consider alternative actions.

I don't mind Pelosi and Schiff planning and implementing their strategy. If Ukraine hadn't blown up, I don't believe Pelosi would have impeached at all. She just couldn't ignore it. And, now we know.

But now that we know, with these absolutely astonishing attitudes of, yeah he's guilty, but we don't care, and, so what? we have to do everything we can to get rid of these Nazi traitors.

The thing of it is, we are now left with what seems to be a true dictator, who is now going to be allowed to negate anything he wants, because HE thinks its in the country's best interest (read: HIS interests.) We have quite a problem, since he is consolidating the government under him.

We need to fight any way we can, including a second impeachment, even though we are weary and sad. We can't quit. We can't let this cancer win without fighting tooth and nail to save our democracy, our country.

We should begin a second impeachment with more charges, using the objections that the Repubs used against us as a template on how to defeat them. They can always vote no without explanation. But, the country would see that.

At the same time we are doing that, we need our guys out there campaigning like madmen and women. We need to stick together and totally support whichever candidate is chosen to carry the banner. We the People need to march appropriately, have sit ins, and keep the country focused on all that we have lost, and will lose, if the Orange Asshole is reelected. We have the numbers on our side. If we have to, we need to shut the government down. We need to prepare for that possibility.

We need to find out if our military brass will shoot protesters.

These are astonishing developments. We need to think about what we will do if tRump decides to restructure the Congress itself: dissolve it, arrest all those who oppose him, and other dirty tricks. What will we do if he decides the election isn't fair to him and he voids the election? What will we do if he starts arresting his opposition, like Russia did? Are we gonna do nothing?

We need to have several irons in the fire. We need the equivalent of rolling blackouts. It may be unimaginable, but we need to prepare for the worst possible happening.

Who would have thought that a United States Senator, who swore an oath to defend the Constitution, would openly state that yeah, he was guilty, but it was okay with them. They are all traitors, and liars, and, apparently, really can't think logically.

However, they should be able to foresee their own futures in an unemployment line. Lie to the American people, break your oath of office, support a dictator, and see what it gets you. Kicked to the curb without a scintilla of honor to keep you warm.

Fuck all of them. I'm voting BLUE, urging everyone to vote BLUE, and getting ready for November.
