General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsFirst time ever, I am not watching the Super Bowl
I disdain FOX and Trump. I want to enjoy my Sunday.
Two of my favorite teams made it this year. The 49ers and the Chiefs.
I am looking forward to the stats tomorrow. I love rushing and defense
and these teams are the best.
The fixed Impeachment trial (no trial) has me completely turned off.
You cannot force me to watch Trump and FOX.
Enjoy

(1,115 posts)I am sure going to miss it. I am a fan of Nick Bosa and his sacks
(Bosa in the opposing backfield). And the Chiefs have a great
QB and coach.
It is my personal protest against Mitch McConnell.
I can't make it to DC in honor of Jane Fonda (I'm a Vietnam Vet
and I love her for standing up for me).

(11,996 posts)I like Kelce and MaHomes and Hill, and Jimmy GQ and Sanders and Kittle and Mostert - and Bosa too!!
I think u'd be able to find some way to stream it? To avoid Fox?
Ferrets are Cool
(21,106 posts)however, I wouldn't piss on Bosa if he was on fire. He considers the orange shitstain to be the greatest pResident the U.S. has ever had.

(1,115 posts)As a fan of Bosa I find his admonition of Trump disgusting,
I have been a fan of Ohio State for 60 years. Remember Otto Graham?
I try to separate sports from politics. And Ohio is Red. If this stuff keeps
up I may have to root for that team up north (I like both of them).
I am getting disgusted but I grew up following Woody Hayes.
Thank you,

(182,788 posts)Looks like it could be a good game. Beyoncé and Shakira are just a bonus.
erlewyne
(1,115 posts)Let's just keep politics out the Super Bowl.
Thanks
Beyoncé and Shakira are entertainment and that is great,
going to miss them.

(31,989 posts)Its going to be J Lo and Shakira
and I can think of way better things to do than watch those two shake their bums for 20 minutes

(1,115 posts)I am in limbo, and "I can think of way better things to do than watch
those two shake their bums for 20 minutes". if it comes to that.
I am not familiar with them.
I enjoy being updated. I am not intending to watch the Super Bowl.
But this stuff is ingrained in my society and I may become a liar.
This is a big deal.
Thank you

(32,626 posts)I don't watch the Fox Channel. I'll see it elsewhere, without sound. I can't stand Fox announcers, and I don't want to see their commercials..no point in watching really.

(1,115 posts)but we always make a ton of food (well. more like consume, but we supply) on
Super Bowl Sunday.
I am not sure what Netflix is, but I will find out.
Thank you!

(53,410 posts)To watch movies, binge watch entire tv seasons in one sitting, and documentaries, etc. you stream it on your tv through the internet for a low price of $12 or so dollars a month. You dont need anything more than an internet connection. No cable or disk needed.
People here talk about the shows and movies all the time. No commercials.

(32,674 posts)Michigan State Basketball, so I watch that.
Some local stations are not as bad as the network.
Will not watch SB on Sunday. I can read about it in the paper and the ads will be all over the internet.
erlewyne
(1,115 posts)I will watch MSU on FOX, unless Trump is involved.
LOL, enjoy

(1,115 posts)Super!
Great team, great coach!
Yes, it is slow and boring,
I miss the old days when they played real football
without endless commercials and other distractions.

(8,426 posts)and when I do watch sports, I keep the sound down. The commercials and incessant commentary annoy me to no end.

(46,327 posts)That way I can skip the boring game, and watch the good part.
The ads!
But I'll also DVR the Puppy Bowl, (luv their halftime shows,) and now on Hallmark they have the Kitten Bowl.

(1,115 posts)That way I can skip the boring game. That never, ever, crossed
my mind. An excellent point.
I love sports but cannot watch it on tv. But, I have no use for
ads, Your point is well taken and appreciated. We are party animals,
and at these parties I notice participants, very good company, who could
care less about the ball game.
Everybody else has money on the game!
Ferrets are Cool
(21,106 posts)I will watch the game, however, I will mute it or change the channel EVERY time that fuckers face or name comes across the screen.
erlewyne
(1,115 posts)And I concur. Dislike that face, wished they would show
it less.

(7,614 posts)I was hoping the Titans would go on to be the SB AFC representative because they knocked the Patriots out of contention. As it is, I have a slight preference for the Chiefs because Mecole Hardman is a UGA alum, as am I.
EndlessWire
(6,522 posts)Due to it being on Channel 11 (no reception.)
But I would if I could. I have an issue with the NFL, but I get enjoyment from watching the Chiefs. I like Mahomes. It would be a distraction.
Plus, I have to admit that, if they show Trump in any form, in a prerecorded interview or in person, I would like to hear the stadium booing him. That gives me a lift.
I hope in the future to read about Repub Senators getting shunned. They deserve it.

For pregame, I just have NFL Network on anyways.

(3,283 posts)but it's nothing new for me. I have watched 6 total. The first 2 and the 4 the Vikings broke my heart with. Life goes on.

(1,115 posts)and got into reading about the Purple People Eaters who met at the

and I remember all four!

(62,411 posts)A pox on both of their houses.
But then I haven't watched a super bowl since the Bears in '85 I think. Can't stand the hype.

(5,306 posts)We have DISH tv and they are currently in a contract dispute with the local Fox ststion. Haven't been able to watch any football games on Fox since the playoffs began and it pisses me off. Luckily I can stream the games on the internet. Watching on my 10" tablet is not the same as tv but it's better than not watching at all. I'll tape the replay from the NFL channel on dvr and watch it later.
If anyone needs to stream the game from the internet the link is: www.sportsurge.net

(110 posts)I posted on facebook yesterday I was NOT going to watch it. Sooo happy we made the decision not to have a party. Now I will not even tune in!!!!
erlewyne
(1,115 posts)I concur with your response. It seems blunt, but that is
ok. I like it.
Tomorrow I will dig into the stats.
The worst thing that ever happened to the Super Bowl was
Howard Cosell, and what he did has blended over into all professional
sports on tv. Umm, Cosell wrecked Monday Nite Football so maybe
my reference to the Super Bowl is inaccurate.
He was a distraction.

(36,298 posts)That was the year I didn't watch the draft in a long time and i just didn't get into watching or paying attention to games when the season started.

(156 posts)and I'll watch this one as well. I only turn it on at gametime. I never watch the talking heads before the game and I never watch the halftime show either....

(36,788 posts)How about a REAL halftime show? Waterboard coward Hannity.
Just imagine the income potential for the price of a scrolling commercial at the bottom of the screen while it is happening.

(2,343 posts)from 1984 until 2018. I quit watching nfl once I realized the owners wouldn't stick up for the players who wanted to exercise their rights to protest. The owners should have told that orange bastard to go F himself when he called the players "sons of bitches".
These players are put in harm's way because of that asshead. Hell, at least the Brits arrest people who make racist remarks at their football (soccer) games.

(1,115 posts)In support of Kaepernick I bought a pair of Nikes. Nikes are
now my favorites.
I share in his protest. I am a Vietnam vet and, in 1969. after I got home,
I could not join the Legion unless I believed in GOD, and I was a veteran.
I do not belong to any veterans clubs but I wear Nikes.
