Did anyone expect the Senate to kick him out?

It's a shocker to most it even got as far as the House, let alone the Senate.
The goal was never to get him kicked to the curb. Wasn't going to happen. We knew that.

For the Democratic Party this was not about politics. It was about the rule of law and the failure of a specific individual to uphold it. It was about a crime - a string of crimes. It was always about upholding the law.

We can disagree on what America's priorities should be. We can disagree on the path to get there. But this country was founded upon the rule of law. It is the basis of all that American ever stood for - good or bad.

Republicans made this about politics. So now it is about politics. It is up to every Democratic Party candidate and organization to keep the facts in front of the American people all the way up until November - and beyond. The Republican Party does not respect the rule of law (and hasn't for a long time now). It is important for Americans to understand that.

I've always been open to the possibility that the Senate would vote to convict and that's still abqtommy Feb 2020 #5

I really don't want to see it split by party lines.

Many of us were under mistaken expectation beginning early in his term that somehow he would be forced to resign or removed from office. We can still dream that something will cause him to leave office before election but that's like hoping to win the megabucks lottery- never going to happen.

I had hope and contacted my 2 GOP senators but I already knew the fix was in well before they heard a word of the case.

Because of many other people's involvement in this case wasn't declared. trump's lawyers, Senators , House republicans, and others that were involved in this trial and impeachment that were part of this with trump all along conspiring and committing crimes too cover up the truth about it ?

I am mildly surprised at how blatant they’re being with the “Yeah, he did it. So? We’re still not doing anything about it” attitude. I thought maybe they’d at least *pretend* they gave a fuck.
