How big of a tent is the Democratic Party?

Who are they willing to excuse? Who is not eligible to join the Party?

What about former Republicans who left their Party because they could not accept Donald Trump?

Is the tent not that big?

Are Democrats over-looking an opportunity?

Your tent can be so big that you lose your core. So what does it get you? not_the_one Feb 2020 #6

when someone comes to my tent, defecates all over the place, blames everyone else, then has a press conference accusing me of shitting in my own tent.

as candidates, its all open for some debate but my rules are simple, if you have history of putting democrats down, villifying democratic issues and policies, then I certainly would not vote for that candidate.

What we currently have.

Quite frankly, I don't give a damn about rupub-lite dems winning in states who will never support a woman's control over her own body.

I don't give a damn about repub-lite dems winning in states who feel it is perfectly fine to try and "de-program" someone who is gay.

I don't give a damn about repub-lite dems winning in states who hate unions so much that they legislate the lowest possible wages for their workers.

And I SURE don't give a damn about repub-lite dems winning in states who think they can force me to believe and worship as they do. AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.

We can either do it without them, or we can allow our brand to become nothing more than a watered down version of our democratic vision.

If the states can't joint the 21st century and get with the program, BOYCOTT! At every level. Don't buy anything from those states. Don't have ANY conferences or meetings in those states, at both local and national levels. Don't visit or vacation in those states. The DOLLAR talks.

Yes, there are good people, good democrats in those states who will hurt, too. But we can't NOT do anything because SOMEONE will get hurt. That means nothing will EVER get done. People are being hurt in those states already because of the draconian policies OF those states.

Hell, we can't even get behind a general economic strike (buy ONLY basic necessities, pay only basic bills) because we can't be inconvenienced. We like our movies, sports, shopping on QVC/HSN/AMAZON. We must be entertained by the heights of mediocrity, "reality" shows that do nothing more than sell anger, conflict, sex, all dressed up in pretty people, "talent" shows that are nothing more than glorified Ted Mack Amateur Hours. (I know I lost a LOT of you with THAT one...)

As has been stated, we have been turned into the least intelligent, but most entertained, citizenry on the planet. We have been so distracted by the shiny objects we are missing the fact that our very way of life, the core beliefs that helped found this country, are being sold out from under us.

To combat all of that, instead of making mediocrity and homogeneity our goal, we should be concentrating on finding REAL democrats who will stand up for our core beliefs, and are able to bring truth to power.

The democrats need to figure out how to communicate the positives of the above stands. We need to figure out how to reach the people who are so jaded they don't vote. We need to make sure the young stay with US.

It should be easy, but we have trouble controlling a winning narrative. Why is that?

We can give them hell using the truth. We don't have to lie. It doesn't have to be "the low road", it just has to be the truth.

People are thirsty for the truth, and for the possibility that our government will work for ALL of us.

Seems like a winning strategy, we just have to get it out there.

Why can't we?
