(14,854 posts)They figure any reductions will be for future retirees, and they're perfectly happy to see younger Americans get fucked over. And you know what? They're probably right that their benefits won't be targeted. The Republicans know perfectly well that the majority of old people vote for them, and they aren't about to upset that apple cart.

(6,926 posts)Seems prevalent in the GOP. I am old enough to remember when people wanted better for their children.
I do not have children and apparently care more about theirs than they do.

(22,357 posts)You are correct - they do not care about their children, unless it is to brag about them as status symbols

(22,632 posts)The threats only served to inspire McGuinty, who lives in a city of 122,000 people that is quite literally owned by Republicans and is one of the most heavily GOP registered places in Florida. It is also one of the partys fastest-growing areas as retirees flock to a community better known for grandparents known for excessive binge drinking and who regularly get DUIs in golf carts.
He called me a pig! Hill screamed as two Sumter County sheriffs deputies arrived to speak with McGinty. He called me a pig for no reason because I asked him why he thought the president was a sexual predator.
Thats blasphemy, she said of McGintys signs about Trump. You dont say that about the president of the United States.
Sadly for Hill, the Sumner County deputies refused to violate McGintys free speech rights under the First Amendment and informed him that theyd received numerous complaints about his protests and hes free to keep doing so just as long as he doesnt block the golf cart paths.

(32,449 posts)"trump is sexual predator", huge letters. golf cart parked in grass median of major street. YOu can hear some honking in agreement. women walks up filming.. she cannot believe what she's seeing...argues with the man about trump who she thinks is wonderful. says "you shouldn't be able to" say those types of things about our great president. the man holds his ground about the sexual predator claim... reminds her trump said "grab her by the p...." and mentions all the claims of groping by women.
she filmed the interaction and tweeted it.

He's pathetic and a loser. And I just told a good friend of mine who is a rump nut (almost but not quite), he gave me BS about rump's fantastic economy/stock market (nope, most of credit still goes to Obama I said) and I also told him that for a president, to act like a 5 year old and hurl insults at others, this is beyond pathetic.

To announce that there must be no criticism of the President,
or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not
only unpatriotic and servile but is morally treasonable to the
American public
They can never argue, because it came from a Republican President.

I do recall a time when the worst you ever heard about a President was something like I dont like him (always him - no other option unfortunately), or I dont trust him, or I dont like his position on this that or the other thing. Of course that was back when Ike was Pres and I was 9.
Seems to me that it really started with JFK and the bellyaching from the right about him being Catholic, my God the Pope has taken over Murcia, and nepotism with Bobby as AG. Tricky Dick may have sounded disrespectful, but it was apt the guy was after all a crook. The Rs have always taken it to the next level, especially in response to legitimate rancor over Nixons criminal transgressions and subsequent impeachment. And so it ratcheted up. Were here today because of their blatant racist and abhorrently disrespectful treatment of the first black President, perhaps the most honorable President in my lifetime (though Carter is pretty high up there).
Here we have what undoubtedly is the most corrupt, self-serving, unprincipled, dangerous and ultimately life-threatening President in our history by a looooooong shot ... and these asshole people complain about respect!
How fucking offensive! Fuck them. If they dont like it, leave. Go where you belong under a leaf, under a pile of detritus or under Erdoghan, Putin, Bolsonaro or any of the other tRump buddies in your frigging hate filled, moronic, lemming-like universe. Fuck off!
End of rant.
