A scam call? I'm guessing yes.

Prerecorded message saying my social security and driver's license #s are going to
be blocked because of something to do with a legal matter and that I had to call
them right back to take care of the problem. Which I didn't do.

apparently that is the biggest scam people are falling for right now. The Nigerian Prince is weeping.

I wait for the 4th ring to answer the phone. Telemarketers and scammers usually hang up on the 3rd ring, moving on to their next mark.

Sure it is a scam. I am curious if they told you what would happen if your SS# or DL# were 'blocked'?

No SS check? Would cops try to arrest you for having a 'blocked' DL?
Sounds like something meant to sound scary that has essentially no substance.

We had a blissful reprieve from the scammers over the holidays. But boy howdy. They’re back in action now. Can’t tell you how many times we’ve been contacted to let us know “This message is meant for YOU!” Never do they mention our actual names. Nor the supposed crime or fraud we’ve committed. But rest assured, they got a report and you’re in big trouble. Just call them back at OU812.

I’m on it.

at dealing with these sčammers. I have robokiller on my cell phone which records the #’s and the automated message and then I text them to my kid who spends his bus ride home from school with his friends calling the scammers and wasting their time while being recorded. They’re hysterical. My kiddo uses the name Hugh Janus...and then he waits for them to say his full name...which is the payoff the kids are looking for. We’re actually getting mail for Mr. Hugh Janus it is so effective.

A text from me telling me my account was closed. Really odd. Yesterday were warrants out for arrest and bench somethings in some other state and cops looking for me.

When you have spare time to kill....

-----------------------------

How to answer spam phone calls...

Keep asking: What is your name?
... until you get an answer.

What is your company/org name?
... until you get an answer.

What is your company/org address?
... until you get an answer.

What is your company/org phone number?
... until you get an answer.

What number can I get in contact with you?
... until you get an answer.

So what if they lie?
You're just going to hang up on them anyway.
Even better if you say 'sorry, not interested'.
.
Their time is also important to them.

or if I don't want charges on my account (not specific about what account or even what kind) I'd better call them and the IRS is going to sue me or something.....on and on.

These scams could be curtailed severely, but our RW overlords don't seem to have the will.

machine and it was answered “Social Security Administration” by a male with a muddled Indian accent. He hung up on me when I asked who he was. I called back several times, getting different people each time, and they kept hanging up on me. I haven’t gotten another call since.
