I Hereby Nominate Ending Iowa Caucuses As First in the Nation, and Replacing them with...

Michigan Primaries to be held before anybody else in January even if the national party has to pick up the tab.

Michigan has everything we need to pick a nominee.

Diversity
Swing State Status.
Small enough for underdogs to be competitive yet large enough to be incredibly informative early on.

DISCLAIMER: I have never lived in Michigan and have only traveled there once.

It has the same problem as many other states. Concentrated urban populations combined with severe rural areas. Colorado might be a better choice.
