I don't think Trump will let Republicans vote for censure?
Joe Manchin suggested censure as sort of a compromise to show Trump that he was not above the law and it would be a way to hold him accountable. But he doesn't seem to be getting much support for his idea?
In the end, a censure vote would make the impeachment by the House look "legitimate" and the Repubs will not let that happen.

(24,406 posts)He just got re-elected and won't have to face the voters until 2024 and Trump will be on his way out anyway. He should be the least concerned about voting to acquit IMHO. But then again he's from Trumpsville

(3,245 posts)but after reading that, it does make you wonder if he's running interference for some R?
Get Dem support for a censure, get the R's behind it to save face and not have to fully defend their votes.
Bingo, a bi-partisan solution.

WHY?
It should be clear to all of us after this sham of a trial that the republicans only strategy from here on out is scorched earth.
Thats the only way to fight back now.
