Obama brought us hope. And when he was gone, Hell entered
I believe that history will view Barack Obama as a great president who left most of us Americans with hope, a positive view of our future, and a solid foundation on which to make the world a better place. Yet, when it was time for him to leave, Hell kicked in the front door and brought with it ignorance, intolerance, cruelty and pure malignancy.
It's almost beyond belief that so many Americans are still standing by Trump and can't grasp the pure evil with which they've aligned themselves.
I get why Wall Street and the billionaires who think they own the world would vote for a madman. Greed, profit, wealth and privilege are strong motivations.
But how can so many other millions of Americans believe that the orange creature gives a shit whether they live or die? Okay, here's one explanation. Hatreds, racism, biases, and just plain ignorance and political illiteracy seems to be why so many people vote against their own well being. There's this belief that "The Others" are holding them back and, "stealing their America."
And whatever sense of human decency they might have once had has become some faint relic of the past because they've found themselves a new "god," who happens to be totally insane, a blight on our species, and with the power to destroy this planet which we all inhabit.
We may be witnessing the end of the American Empire. But being ruled by a crazed beast, (who controls our weapons of destruction), makes this current moment in history about as dangerous as is possible.
To those of you out there (who aren't well off) who will stick by an insane president and a GOP gone mad, consider that there may be something wrong with your judgement. Why, oh why, would you cast a vote to fuck yourself into oblivion?
I don't/can't/won't understand you. And history (if Earth survives long enough to have a history) will not look upon you kindly. So, one last plea. Think about the rest of your life, think about your children and your grandchildren, and then vote for the person who will make the world a better place for them.
The choice is yours. Cling to your ancient hatreds, ignore reality, and ensure that your descendants will inherit ashes. Or, on the other hand, try this. Think! Think about your loved ones. Think about the well being of you and yours. Think about the viability of a healthy planet. Think how much you're damaging yourself because you were taught to hate. Think of a world of good and plenty for all.
But above all, please do this. Think.
