Speaker Nancy Pelosi on why she ripped up President Trump’s speech: “Because it was the courteous thing to do considering the alternatives.”

UPDATE: According to ABC News, Pelosi also said, after the sentence above, "It was such a dirty speech."

When asked after the event why she ripped up the speech, Pelosi told reporters it was "because it was a courteous thing to do considering the alternative. It was such a dirty speech."

How will this help us? Speaker Pelosi is famously strategic and very good at her job, so it would be quite unlike her to do this for straight catharsis.
