No Democratic can win Utah, but maybe Romney can. Could cost Trump what would've been guaranteed electoral votes. Lets hope Trump does all he can to piss off Romney to make it happen.

(8,201 posts)Romney might win the never-Trump Republicans and Republican-leaning unaffiliated voters that we'll need to win.

(2,785 posts)We could ratfuck the GOP by encouraging Democrats in Utah and only in Utah to vote for Romney.

(4,484 posts)That leaves 6%.
If Romney could get just 5%, it would be enough to cost Trump re-election.
Heck just 1 or 2 percent would likely be enough.

(38,187 posts)Nope. Sorry. Not happening. I'd rather literally vote for a random yellow dog still.
He did what anyone who isn't bought would do. He is STILL a Republican though. I haven't forgotten that. So, nope.

(25,469 posts)I think he'd pull some independents who might otherwise vote for our nominee and some never-Trumpers.
Probably a net-negative for us.

(32,626 posts)Romney has had his sights on the oval office for forever. Let him have his moment in the sun, and move along.

(7,864 posts)Trump CANNOT WIN in a two-person race -- why the hell do people keep wanting to add more and more candidates into the mix? Romney will hurt the Democratic candidate more than he would pull votes from the Trump cult.
I can't imagine any Democrat or moderate voting for him.

(7,864 posts)You can't imagine a moderate voting for Romney? Really now?
musicblind
(4,484 posts)Romney may be a sincere man, but his beliefs are stone cold conservative.
W_HAMILTON
(7,864 posts)And that is not how the media will portray him. He will be portrayed as a sensible alternative to the "two extremes" and it will cost our Democratic nominee votes. How is it that some Democrats still cannot understand this? TRUMP CANNOT WIN IN A TWO-PERSON RACE. Why in god's name do you want more candidates in the race, which will only hurt our chances, just like third party candidates cost us in 2016? I mean, really...

(15,285 posts)Mormon's in Utah are not big fans of Trump. In fact, I believe it's entirely possible that Trump's attacks on Romney will only make him more popular there.
What might help in Utah is getting Weld's name on the ballot for Nov.
