as a 3rd party candidate in 2020? Even if he just teased out the idea he could cause the orange hemorrhoid to explode!
Go for it Willard!

(5,502 posts)The biggest challenge would be getting on the ballot in every state. He has name recognition. He could make it very tough on Trump in the swing states.

(38,958 posts)Yes, he voted to convict on one article of impeachment when no other GOP Senator would do so. He did that in a very safe environment knowing that it would never come to pass. He then voted to acquit on the second article of impeachment.
Seems to be more of a "have your cake and eat it too" moment than anything showing great bravery and fortitude to me.

(30,541 posts)making it enough to take Trump out he would've voted Not Guilty. Romney is a snake, this vote doesn't make him noble. Romney isn't up for reelection for 4yrs (I believe) so he won't "pay" for his vote for years and the voters in Utah will forget by then.

(9,275 posts)His vote wont affect his re-election. It was a purely symbolic gesture to make him look like he has morals. If it had been a deciding vote he would not have done it (or more likely, the party would have stopped him). I agree hed be a great 3rd party candidate but he really wants to be President. This sets him up to look moderate in 2024.

(630 posts)among his awful base. He's still got ALL of them. Romney, or kasich, or whomever only hurts us if we run someone like a Biden, buttigieg, especially Bloomberg. Those moderate independents might peel off and vote third party while trump holds 95% of his base and cruises to reelection.
