Downplaying Romney's courage yesterday and casting aspersions that he may have ulterior motives,

whether he does or not, is playing right into dump trump's hand. Mitt is under a full scale vicious attack by party of trump members and we sure as hell don't need to give aid and comfort to the enemy.

But what he did yesterday proves to me he practices his faith. I have listened to his speech several times and the emotion shows through loud and clear. He thinks more of his Country than he does his party.

Listening to blowhard Junior bad mouth him was sickening. That guy has never accomplished anything in his useless life.

Mitt Romney's speech will be permanently etched in History.

There isn't a single thing Trump or any of his minions say that will be recorded or quoted beyond a week or two.....

The National Prayer Breakfast group has been around for some time, lurking and scheming in the background.
They are a very very scary group, everyone........

I agree. At least he showed some integrity and backbone, knowing that there would be hell to pay, which is a lot more than any of the other cowards in his party ever dared to do.

Mitt did 1/2 of the right thing. Big deal.

Better that than nothing, but it doesn't make him "courageous" it shows he was TOO COWARDLY to make a true stand!!!

I hope he understands he's already been expelled from the GOPee in all but fact.

Here's hoping he declares himself Independent. That would also make it very hard for him to still caucus with Bitchy Mitchy, given the treatment Mitt will get from now on.

especially his pious attitude while he's robbing the Olympics or something BUT...

He did take a stand that was a good lesson for many. For all his egregious crap, I will say that this was probably his finest hour and I am thankful he did what he did, little as it may seem to some, because it was powerful in the moment and helps to further expose the evil we are dealing with. He exposed many Senators and their fealty to a destructive monster.

Our side needs to not take a side between Romney and Trump, just watch how the christian vote plays out, because christians like Romney certainly will not now play into Trump's hands no matter how many prayer breakfasts he speaks at.

much, if anything, about Mitt Romney and have held a fair degree of animosity toward him generally, he stood publicly on the side of good when it counted most yesterday. I respect this deed by him regardless of any ulterior motives that may or may not exist. It was obvious in his speech that this was either something that struck at his core -- at who he is in his mind and who he wants to be remembered as -- or he's a damn good actor. Either way, I'll take it! And to be perfectly honest, it was one of the more memorable speeches I have seen a politician give in my life.

One other thought. It strikes me, one, that in the end, should Mitt Romney still have aspirations of living in the WH, his action yesterday will be more helpful than harmful to that end; and two, he may well be the only Republican in existence who could meaningfully bridge the wide divide that currently runs throughout America.

...when we note the people who paved the way for Trump only did something worthy of a "participation" trophy in the "did the right thing in at least a half-assed kind of way" contest. Yes, I'm glad he showed up -- there are almost no Republican takers for those trophies these days -- but don't complain when I point out what it's actually for.

I'm fine with giving Mitt his kudos and saying how brave he was if every time we do that we use the opportunity to hammer home the sort of Stage-5 Degeneracy the Republicans have put themselves in for what Mitt did to count as "heroic". It wouldn't be a "profile in courage" if craven cowardice had not become the gold standard of acceptable behavior for his entire f***ing party.

it to be the other way. By his vote on Art. 2 he is saying that a Pres can withhold documents from Congress. When court decisions come out and declare that a Pres can't withhold documents from the House what will Romney do or say? IMO the 2 articles were so inextricably bound that the same vote should have occurred on both articles. I believe that Romney voted his conscience and his conscience was telling him to seek revenge on trump for the humiliation over the SOS position. To the extent that it's a win for Ds I'll accept it.

Prior to the Crusades there were actual debates about whether it was right, moral, lawful for a knight to kill. We know how that got resolved. Now we are at a point where oaths and conscience are invisible to most of the Senate GOP. Mitt did the right thing for the right reason. Publicly declaring it is courageous. I don't know if he's a throwback to an earlier age of morality at this point, but let's hope America finds its moral compass. This is a step in the right direction.

against Willard will go away in a couple weeks. Living here in the Southwest, one figures out whom the big Players are when it comes to Politics. Willard and Company pretty much float all the GOP local and State elections one way or another.

So the rage will continue in the mean time for Sound Bites and Optics, but when it comes funding their Fav's,they go a knocking on Willard's Rolodex.

The Orange Anus will self implode, but in the meantime,he will seek Vengeance which will cause his implosion to come sooner than later.
