I believe so! We should have a right to know if they are on drugs! (blood test for drugs only)

(11,725 posts)Presidents have various medical conditions for which they must take medications. JFK was known to have Addison's for which he took stimulants, as extreme fatigue is a symptom. Abraham Lincoln was reported to have bouts of "melancholy" or Depression. We know that Wilson had a massive stroke, and the Reagan had fairly serious dementia by the end of his term.
What we should have in place of some arbitrary drug testing regiment is a requirement that when there is a known medical condition that inhibits a president's ability to effectively execute their duties, that the medical team or some semi-autonomous agency be obligated to report the situation.
I know that everyone thinks Trump is on all kinds of drugs, and he likely is. He has shown bizarre behaviors that point to all kinds of different problems. His behavior has shown the he is morally and ethically unfit, and is likely cognitively unfit for the office. There is already a mechanism for making that determination, however, the people in government have abdicated that responsibility.
Introducing a drug test, would likely not change anything.

(11,725 posts)Over use of klonopin (prescribed for anxiety) is like alcohol abuse.
Over use of Ritalin or pseudo-epinephrine is similar to meth use (though without all the toxic crap thrown in).
Ulysses Grant was known to be a heavy drinker.
Like I said, I would focus more on holding the medical teams and others around the Presidents more accountable for hiding such things as significantly impairing medical conditions and misuse of any mind altering substances that can impair the President's ability to do their job.
