the red states not as well. The gop brought this whole economic mess that is coming, because they are paying attention to rump only, and rump only. They have already missed what's coming, slow down in housing (an economic engine), and a stagnant stock market that's been sitting there forever, and inflation still kicking, and economic activity slowing. Maybe the $billionaires with their freed up tax dollars aren't spending? Hmmmm...

Pretty good for stimulating the economy. You just gave you and your better a better tax break and that's it.

But, as history has told us, for those of us in economics, things will repeat. Economic cycles and spending occur always. The manner of them in how they happen is different, and thus, there's the problem. In this cycle, the ones benefiting are the wealthy, so, all of their assets increase in value and then, all of a sudden, they are trying to outbid each other. You can laugh, which is fine, billionaire after billionaire bidding against each other. It's even worse than one would think, they are artificially boosting prices to insane levels. Insane.

A massive amount of money is going to evaporate when all of these insane valuations go bust. And the gop saw this in clear, living daylight with how Barak Obama handled the mess along with one of theirs, George Bush.

Can't run fast enough, eh? Gop?

If a Democrat gets in and it hits in 2 years we will get obliterated during the midterms or if it comes in 4 years we lose the Presidency. A recession late this year would pretty much doom Trump who is already going to probably lose even with an economy that is doing "ok".

Late this year is too late. It has to be obvious and already felt for months. All the models that look at how the economy impacts presidential elections indicate that summer opinion of the economy is the crucial indicator.

I'm heavily involved in the stock market. I would take a jolt but it would be more than worth it. Unfortunately lots of forecasts have the downturn at the very end of 2020 or into 2021.

Before it gets picked up on Twitter or right-wing sites and people start gloating about how Democrats are so desperate we're hoping for an economic crisis because we know we can't beat Trump otherwise and calling Democrats unpatriotic and whatnot.

trump has Manunchun using to prop up the stock market to create an illusion he can use that the economy is great from him, when it isn't, and its all lies for his promotional propaganda claiming the opposite. trump wants more tax cuts for himself and the wealthy , and guess who will pay for them, the 99%ers , again. The stock market is being manipulated for trump to use.

I'm too lazy to look for it, but I have no doubt we're in for an economic downturn, whether anyone hopes for it or not. All one has to do is look at the actual numbers to understand what we're probably in for. As my late father always said, the Republicans will do it every time. By "it:, he meant lie, cheat and steal, and fuck up the economy. He was right. We have over a 100 years of data to prove him right, too.

BTW, I think a lot of people are more disgusted by Fat Nixon's behavior than the let on. My experience has been that they're just afraid to say anything--until they know they're in like company.

My husband's business is real estate-related and our income from it so far this year is a third of last year's. There's always a holiday/winter slow down, but this is worse than I've ever seen it. Plus, anyone who shops for a family knows the rate of inflation is increasing by leaps and bounds. But, if it gets rid of Trump, I'm happy to starve for a year.

Democrats must beat 45 regardless of the state of the economy. Focus on the swing states, repeat the message that Trump is BAD for workers, bad for seniors, bad for POC, bad for women’s rights, etc. Make them associate Trump’s name with fear and negative thoughts. Put forth a candidate who can make a connection.

But don’t wish for an explosion that throws too much flyrock onto the weakest among us.
