He's not concerned with loyalty to the good of the nation or to our Constitution. He measures loyalty in personal terms. He demands loyalty to Donald Trump alone. As we saw yesterday, those he considers to be disloyal to Donald Trump will be punished, along with their families.
He does not even give lip service to rewarding loyalty to our country or anything else. Only he matters.
Donald Trump is the first President of this nation who considers his own person to be above the state in terms of loyalty. In that, he is like Stalin, Pol Pot, Kim Jong Un, Mussolini, Hitler, and other despotic rulers of nations. They too put loyalty to themselves above all other measures.
All of those despots also punished those they believed to be disloyal, and extended that punishment to families, as well.
Yesterday, Trump fired not only one Lt. Col. Vindman. He also fired his twin brother, as though they were the same person. That is what despots and tyrants do when someone does not show total loyalty to the tyrant or despot.
This will not be the end of Trump's retribution for being impeached. There will be more attacks on people he believes to be disloyal to him. Trump now believes that he can do anything with impunity. He believes that his position is beyond justice.
For a brief time, he is probably right. However, on November 3, we the voters in the United States can let him know that he can be punished. It will take a massive turnout in the election, because there will be attempts to control even our elections. We can, however, overwhelm those attempts with numbers.
