He made a very passionate argument for Democrats to WAKE UP! He said Dems should be focused on getting Trump out of office and not on policy issues. His position was that these campaigns need to make Trump the issue and not the other policy issues or he fears we will loose. His position was that there will be time to focus on policy issues once we get the Orange Maggot out of office and we have control of the Senate as well as the House. His rant ended with something like "I am 75 years old, and frankly I'm scared".
It was a very sobering interview.
I hope this is the correct forum to post this in. I do not post very often, although I have been a member for a few years. DU gives me a place to keep up with the latest news and it gives me hope to communicate with like minded individuals.

(430 posts)My first thought was that he was "off", a little wild eyed and more lit up than I have seen him in the past. But, he is absolutely right.
I hope we as a party can focus on all the November elections going blue, and we can all ease up on spending energy attacking other Democrats. We are all in this together, and we should all be scared.

(53,410 posts)Perhaps the Democrats are making a huge mistake by acting as if everything is normal in this election. Its hard to know what strategy to take before the nomination since they are competing with each other right now. Maybe once the nomination is over the candidate can go hard after Trump.
But the fact is most voters are in the fence because all our candidates are good. So the undecideds are the majority, but its because its hard to choose. If one starts going after Trump we would know if it works because the poll numbers would show it.
But I have to admit, their strategy of not attacking Trump does worry me a little.

(25,962 posts)This is the second interview I'd seen from him this past week. I hope he continues doing them periodically throughout the election season because he's on point and people take him seriously, which they should. He needs to keep poking everyone with a dose of reality. He knows what he's talking about.

Well, so am I. Once again, we seem to be taking a wooden spoon to a knife fight. I am scared to death that our Dem Party "system" is going to cost us this election.
The absolute best thing I saw from the latest debate was a clip of Pete Buttegieg answering a question about Hunter and Joe Biden with a ringing defense of them both and a flat denunciation of Trump trying to turn a father and son against each other. That is what I have been saying all the candidates need to do for each other all along. Stand back to back against Trump, not do his dirty work for him or let it go unchallenged.
Desert Grandma, from a California Coast Grandma. Hope to see you around. You might want to move your post over to the Primaries forum, though.

(804 posts)Thank you for the welcome! Actually I wondered about posting it in primaries Forum, but since it doesn't really mention any particular candidate, I wasn't sure. I would move it over to the other forum, but I'm not sure how to do that. I may be a little more technically challenged than most folks here. When either Desert Grandpa or I need to know how to do something on our phone, we ask one of the grand kids. They are our "You Tube". LOL

Score points with your smarts and ingenuity and even charisma, but leave the bullets for trump because he will turn all your words against you.
