Trump is not merely petty, mean-spirited, and corrupt. He's evil.

As evil as any human being can be, I’d argue.

This is moral clarity. We have an evil figure with unbridled power, supported by disgusting career-saving cowards and fanatical cultists. Call it what it is: evil.

I’m not afraid to name it.

someone hit him the way Obama did at the Correspondents dinner. I don't think he was ever as humiliated and furious in his entire life as he was that night. That is his hell.

I think his kind of evil can’t exist without other evil people. He’s just a focal point for the evil of Putin, Mitch, Barr, Steven Miller, et al. He contaminates people around him so their small evil becomes big evil.

He cannot function by himself.

Petty, mean-spirited, corrupt - yes, they all describe Trump, as do the words vindictive, hypocritical, cruel, nasty and uninformed.

My objection to the word 'evil' is that it is lazy. To me, it also has religious, apocalyptic associations but that may just be my opinion. 'Evil', as a word, is a thought terminating cliche. Nothing is worse. End of discussion.

I would prefer folk to stretch their imaginations, consult their dictionaries and worry less about being liked on the internet but be more incisive, personal and well-aimed in their descriptions of the monstrosity in the White House.

Remember the nut-jobs who, before the 2016 election described Hillary as evil? Did you ever want to slap upside their gormless faces and ask them to explain themselves? I certainly did.

There are a thousand words to describe him; as I said, using 'evil' as a catch-all word is lazy.

He’s a psychopath for sure, but can he help himself? Does he know the difference between right or wrong?

“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”
