As soon as his acquittal was official, Trump began exacting his revenge on those who spoke the truth. He could have done it during the Senate trial. He did not.
Waiting until after means two things:
1. It confirms his own sense of guilt.
2. His hold over Senate Republicans may not be as strong as it appears.
House Democrats should capitalize on this fact and fact and apply more pressure through public investigations that expose more truth and facts. They should do nothing else from here on.

(5,322 posts)It's as simple as that, and unfortunately, somewhat true.
Think about the Twilight Zone episode with Billy Mumy.

(42,770 posts)I see him like Hans Brinker. He reacts by putting his finger in the dyke where there's water (dissention) leaking out at any given moment. If no dissent he ignores. Once Romney voted aye, boom. Same with Comey. Same with Michael Cohen.
I am not even sure he actually ever thinks he does wrong. He thinks he is omnipotent.
I doubt there are many on earth who don't think he did wrong with Ukraine. The loyalists just sweep under rug.
I totally agree, keep on investigating. And do it asap. Would like to see other crimes that are more relatable and less political as possible. Yet he's committed so many of those in the past that it might ring hollow? Retroactive outrage not the most effective strategy.

(10,030 posts)and it seems like he has no real plan on any given day that isn't set up by someone else. He's in permanent reaction/attack mode. His job is self promotion and, currently, self protection.
It's a weird part of his psychic makeup that I suppose is an aspect of his narcissism.

(42,770 posts)Exact same thing you did. They said he was the best self promoter ever to exist. Been doing it for what 50+ years. It's amazing he has pretty much gotten away with it all. Although half the country hates him. That's quite impressive in itself. Yet he doesn't address that does he.
He doesn't reach out. If you like me unconditionally (dumb or crooked), you will come to me.

(10,030 posts)I never noticed that about Trump. It's like reaching out to another is degrading to him.

(1,905 posts)To expose tRumps crimes. We must carry on. Im an old man and I still have some fight in me. Never give up. I was born a union-made Democrat and Ill die one.
We must continue in the House to investigate. tRump thinks he is now invincible and cant be touched and free to do what he wants.
Dems, prove him wrong.

(11,759 posts)heinous or illegal actions. trump and republicans are emboldened now as never before. After senate shitshow, trump has no reason to hide his corruption, crimes or gutter mouth, and he's just getting started... The cult will back him and his minions 100%.

(15,534 posts)don't try to put rational thought to irrational behavior.
Because we are rational people, we try to understand what makes someone such a horrible human being, but we are just wasting our time if we try to "figure him out". As a sociopath he just acts on impulse. There's not a lot if any of thought behind what he does.

(101,271 posts)They get to say "on what we saw as evidence, he wasn't guilty in our eyes". And Republican voters who want an excuse to vote for them again can use that to say "they did what they thought was best". If Trump had started firing people the moment they gave evidence, the fix would look more obvious.
Yes, exposing truth and facts is important, especially for stopping Trump himself from getting re-elected. But they knew that holding back until the senators can claim "this all happened after the impeachment" was a useful dodge. They'll pretend the truth and facts are only 'new', and there's nothing they can do now.
