President Trumps personal attorney Rudy Giuliani blasted former National Security Adviser John Bolton for claiming in his new book that the president tied aid to Ukraine to his request that the country announce investigations of the Bidens.
In an interview on Fox News Sunday Morning Futures, Giuliani who Bolton claims was in the room when Trump made the request said Bolton was either a either a liar or a back-stabber.
He went around my back to the secretary of state and complained, Giuliani said. I dont know what Johns up to. Hes either a liar or a backstabber.
The claim in Boltons upcoming book, which was first reported by the New York Times, led to renewed calls during Trumps impeachment trial that he along with acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney and other high ranking administration officials should be called as witnesses. The Republican-controlled Senate eventually voted against calling any witnesses in Trumps trial and ultimately acquitted the president on the two articles brought against him.

Went behind your back? What government position do you hold? You're Trump's personal attorney.

(12,712 posts)This seems to be a part of the systematic disassembly of our system and a means of conditioning the public, as I have noted.
What I mean is, here we have Giuliani, who is actually acting as Trump's attorney, also behaving as if he is a government official and implying it regularly. That bypasses and formal or official assignment of him to any post or position that would normally be required for him to act in such a manner.
If you haven't seen this kind of subversion again and again, let me know. It is a repeating them. It is overstepping the boundaries of our government each time something like this happens and so, it appears to be about more than just the individual events. It is a direct affront and violation of of boundaries in a bold, public manner that then becomes a matter of mass influence in order to normalize it, regardless of its legal aspects.
That's how you mess with and mess up a system and it is proceeding in full force and so far, rather unhindered. Trumps acting belies the subtle, but coherent actions that are meant to corrode the system as much as possible and make it even more vulnerable to his all out attack on it. Trumpism is political hydrochloric acid that slowly eats away our democracy.

I mean: Unless you literally stab someone in the back, the law doesn't really care if someone metaphorically stabs someone else in the back.
He could be a liar or he could be exposing the various corrupt business dealings.
Which is it?
